Trying to get an electrical gremlin exorcised from my ‘new’ GC OBS. A previous owner installed the RS bumper and lights on it. Here’s my problem: Fog lights don’t come on at all, nor do the parking lights. The dash lights only work when the fog light switch is “on” Turning on the high beams shuts off the dash lights. Apparently one of the car’s POs wired the fogs to stay on when the high beams were used, and I suspect this has something to do with my current problem. According to the bloke I bought the car from, the issue cropped up suddenly and things had worked properly for him up to that point. Looking for someone familiar with this mod that can walk me through which wires and connectors I need to be checking, and offer some insight as to what a likely cause may be. I’ve checked every fuse I can find and they’re all good. Also, and this may be an easy one to answer, how do I remove the switch? I can look up from under the dash and see the wiring but can’t reach to unclip it. Does it come out from the front or behind? Do I need to take the whole panel off to get at it?
You might want to post your location so if someone wants to help they know. Your best bet is to take off the bottom half of the driver side dash.
I'm located in Eau Claire, WI. I guess I should clarify; I wasn't asking for free in-person labor, just some email or phone advice on the wires and locations of connectors and whatnot that i need to be focusing on. Or, perhaps, a schematic to follow.
