the REM wire is a remote on for the amplifier. atleast that wahat i gather from your current stage of your install. al it does is send some voltage to the smp tellign ti to turn on.. i have heard that the antenna wire (the one used to tell the power anntenna to extend / turn on) will also work.

    just a thought

For the love of God please upgrade your speakers!!!! Fronts are 5.25" rears are 4" but you can upgrade to 6.5" front (depending on mounting depth) with an adaptor from http://www.iaperformance.com/. Rears can go up to 5.25" with some drilling.

I'm not sure what stock wattage is, but i know its not much. The magnet in the rear speakers is about the size of 6 quarters stacked up - seriously small! Anything you pick up aftermarket will be hella better than stock or "subaru premium" speakers.

I got 6.5's front and rear to fit, although the fronts required a lot of spacing so the window doesn't hit them.

you can just hook up the remote wire to any positive wire that is powered on when you turn the key on

there is usually a "blue" wire on cd player harnesses that is teh remote wire, that goes directly into your amp. also some RCA cables have a little wire that runs down the middle of them for this purpose, you can just use that as your remote wire instead of running a seperate one.

What kind of cd changer are you running?

The wire that goes between the RCA's is not inteaded for a remote wire, it is to cut donw noise on the rca's. Plus if you have power running between your audio signals you can potentally get pooer audio and feed back. I suggest running power down the driver side and audion down the passanger side.
