So the tranny is finally going on the Escort, and I'm in need of a car. I don't want some POS with 200K on it, I want something nice and respectable, that I can depend on.

I'd prefer to make a monthly payment of $150 on it, but there is always the possibility of buying something straight up. The only downside to getting a new car is I don't know what I could get for $150/month and I haven't really been out looking around.

If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know.

^Do you think before you talk?

OP - What do you have for a down payment on a loan? That is going to make all the difference. For instance when I took out my car loan I put a fairly large down payment down and that brought my payments down to 230 a month. Now I'm not saying that is a great deal but at 20yo with a first time loan I think I came away pretty good. There are also plenty of vehicles out there, is there anything in particular you were looking for?

    Back on topic, idiots.

Get something not a Subaru so you can stay away from idiots like these.

You could find a decent 2.5 RS or a Leggy GT for somewhere around that range. Look for something in the 7500 range if you want your payments around 150.
