My dad owns the forester; he left a key in the ignition all night last night. When he woke up the battery was dead, he tried jumping it, didn't work. He then charged it for the entire day, tried it when he got home from work, nothing. The stereo doesn't even work. No click from the starter when he turns it over or anything.

    Any idea's guys?

    Thanks

did he leave the door ajar, or the parkign lights on? mabe teh dome lights? other than that leaving the key in (unless it was on the ACC position) shouldnt kill the battery. does the battery still have a warranty? might be time to get a new one. good luck

he had the key forward to the position so he could roll up the power windows, and then got out and forgot to remove the key.

wiggle the cables when you jump it, to make sure its getting a charge, also from discharging it so badly, the battery is probably shot

did you guys get the positive and negative mixed up? sounds like you blew the fusible link, its in the fuse box right by the battery, its the first thing from the headlights, it has a clear window, and you'll know if you blew it

Did you double check your alternator? Try a volt meter and each points of the battery terminal and see if its got power? Does it have a factory alarm, if its has a ignition kill, the engine will not turn. And lastly have you tried starting the car with the charger or another car jumping it?

    Happy Hunting!
