    I got Windows XP Media SP2 and I CANNOT get it to display in WIDESCREEN mode. It always display 4:3 ratio, making everything streching long. Checked the settings and the "setting" is just telling me to check the "setting" too. Thats stupidly weird. Just repeating itself. The "Display Property Settings" does NOT have Widescreen Ratio. Checked the drivers update and it saids I got the latest one. The monitor is 19"widescreen and not OEM.

    Any ideas I could get it to display in Widescreen mode?

    What is your video card? If your video card does not have widescreen functionality, it won't happen.

    From what I know, there won't be a "widescreen" checkbox or anything like that - you just choose a resolution with a 16:9 ratio. For instance, 1280x906 is 4:3 while 1440x900 is 16:9. That's normally how you get widescreen.

    If display properties doesn't show any 16:9 settings available, look at drivers and video card software like the others mentioned. There may even be drivers (more like profiles) for your monitor so it wouldn't hurt to install the software that came with the monitor.

    I concur. You need to select the appropriate resolution for your screen. If it's an LCD it'll have an optimum Native Resolution that should be noted somewhere in the user guide.

    Just a check here, how did you check if your drivers where up to date?

    1) If you went to the Video Card mfgr site, ignore this post.

    2) If you used the 'Update Driver' from the built-in windows device properties, read on.
    Often with the windows included generic drivers (for your video card) you will not be given the full range of options for the screen resolution.

    If your computer has an nVidia or ATI (now AMD) video card, you should always have a driver directly from them.

    1440x900 = 16:10

    Just an FYI. That's what my monitor is.

    And yes, get the latest chipset driver directly from nVidia or ATI. I just got the recent update (Windows Vista told me I was good but Steam said otherwise. Steam was right) and I suddenly had video options I never had before.

    My guess, HL2, since he's been feeding us updates on his progress on t3hw00t. Also, t3hw00t Garry's Mod server ftw...sometimes.

    Oooh, nice. Garys MOD ftw :) Many a good times have been had. I have't been playing much in the way of games, but I suggest to look for the -Q- Clan servers (you won't be disappointed) if you are going to play CS:Source or TF2, they are professional and got their poop together.

    Right on. Occasionally I switch gears on the t3hw00t server and run CS:S knife only maps. But yeah, mostly Gmod10.
