Hi i have a bad rear strut on my 96 impreza brighton and i was looking at getting a set of Kyb Agx struts. While i am replacing the struts i might as well get new springs. I was on ebay and saw 2 auctions that fit my car for cheap. one set comes with Vogtland (959505) German Made high performance Lowering springs http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-AGX-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-SUBARU-IMPREZA-RS-4WD-93-01_W0QQitemZ160147180383QQihZ006QQcategoryZ33590QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ShippingPayment and the other is just 4 struts http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-AGX-SHOCKS-STRUTS-SUBARU-IMPREZA-4WD-93-01_W0QQitemZ230161946882QQihZ013QQcategoryZ33590QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. 1. Has anyone heard of Vogtland springs? 2. What springs do you have and do you like them? 3. In the pictures i noticed that the struts look different but the part numbers are the same. Does anyone know what picture is right? All help is appreciated, jake
If the Struts are the same setup I have, the reason they look different is that the rears are 8-way adjustable- (with the knobs on the side of the strut body), and the fronts are 4-way adjustable- (with the adjusting tabs up on the top of the piston) dampening. I have Ground Control Coilover sleeves on mine, and when I get them installed this weekend, I'll let you know what I think. (Note, mine are from a GC setup that are going on a BC Legacy). Vogtland springs... never heard of them. I would be willing to bet some serious cash that the same factory that makes them also makes either H&R or Eibach, though.
If you need any help with the install we'd be glad to help out at a very reasonable shop rate!! I was able to get my v8 jdm spec c suspension on my 96 impreza so that is an option to. You'll have to use the stock L rear top hats but other than that everything else is a direct swap. Justin www.grimmspeed.com
