im currently in the process of swapping an 5mt into my automatic legacy. but when i tried hooking my clutch cable up, it seems like my throwout bearing isnt pushing on my pressure plate. i seperated the trans from the block and checked to see if my throwout bearing is still on, and it is. what the heck is even going on?
well, there is about an inch and a half of play in the clutch fork, when i adjust the cable so its tight up against the fork the clutch pedal wont move. like its hitting a brick wall.....
without being there to see what it's doing is hard, everything worked good when it was removed. could the throwout bearing be installed incorrectly? or could one of the clips that hold the tob have fallen off or came loose so it's not moving with the clutch fork? again i am just guessing since i can't look at in person.
I took the boot off the clutch fork and the t.o.b is hitting the pressure plate, but not until its about 1 and a half inches from the bellhousing. with the clutch pedal down and the trans in gear, you can spin the shafts, but i can hear a grinding noise (im sure its my clutch barely touching my pressure plate) so i dont think its disengaging as much as it should be. this is weird.....
well...i had the same problem...when i actually installed everything...it was still loose..but when i tighten up the clutch cable line... and tried it...it worked fine! if you like..i can swing by to check it out with you??? pm me if you like....
