Any of you splurge and get one of these?
    If so, reviews?

Ive got my 1st on the way (late Jan/ early Feb) and we got a "travel station" car seat/stroller thing from our first shower this past weekend, but I might treat the little guy to one of these.

the Midnight Sky would match the WRX seats pretty well.

Those look cool. remember that your newborn can't sit facing forward yet untill about 11months to a 1 year. Make Sure to test out your carseat from your baby shower in your car to see if you like how it buckles and funcition. My wife and I thought that it was the best gift ever with the stroller and car seat. After about 2 months of the thing we started to hate it. It was too big and clunky. The buckle sucks. We ended up buying another stroller that was smaller and more light wieght. Try to see how it feels just don't leave it in the box like we did untill the last minute. Also kids grow fast!!!!!!!! I thought about buying one of those for my son but with his rapid growth I just ended up using my sisters old carseats.

They're big time spendy. The link that my co-worker shot me had prices of like $250.00 on it or something silly like that. I would probably get it used if I got one. I just thought it would be REALLY cool.

trust me if you can hold back on the splurge I'd suggest saving the money for diapers/food/formula. You can never have enough for kids.

...wait until you experience your first "blowout" in the carseat.

Right on. We registered and just recieved the one that we have used and liked. My wife's friend just had her first, so when we were out in Seattle visiting him, we got to check out all the stuff that they used, and found out what they liked and didn't. The car-seat / stroller thing was pretty slick, so we registered for the same one.

I GREATLY appreciate all the tips and help though!!!!!

What bummpy said. I almost got one, they I realized it not worth spending 200+ dollars on a car seat they wont use for very long.

Not to mention they spend the first year in a rear facing car seat. And car seats have expiry dates, so don't buy anything too early as it may expire before you get to use it. This is also something you should look for if buying used.

Kids are plenty expensive, and although those car seats are nice, you'd be buying it for *you*, not the little tyke. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that.

    ok ok...
You guys talked me out of it. Well, mostly my wife did. She has an un-canny ability to talk me out of crap I shouln't buy. Maybe I'll win the lottery between now and when he's big enough for a seat like this...

    cheers, dads.

I would spend the money on 1 really nice forward facing car seat...if you plan on having more kids. At this point (for me) I'll be putting the 3rd through the same one in a few years. Also, if your kids have any skin sensitivity issues/allegies, a nice seat can make a huge difference.

    Don't get a used seat.

Expect that the baby carrier/car seat you got will be good for maybe only the first 6 months, after that (dending on how fast your child grows), you may well need to change to a rear-facing non-removable seat until the child is a year old (and large enough).

I really like the Cosco (not Costco) Alpha Omega Elite: http://babiesexpress.com/by2950.html
It'll cover you from when the kid gets too big for the carrier until he's up to 100lbs. We have one in each car. Britax amkes some I really like with really good side-impact wings, but we already had the Coscos.

And the WRX back seat is not the greatest for fitting in seats, as you'll learn. Even the small carrier will require the front seat in the car to be moved forward far enough that only farily small people will fit. It gets worse with the rear-facing full seat, but better when the kid gets old enough to face forward.
