Hey im Erik im new to the forum I've had my scoob for about 3.5 years now but just been procrastinating on joining the forum . I hope to come out to meets next spring pretty stoked!!
hah okay pics it is, not a whole lot is done to is just turbo mani, and cobb down pipe, SPT catback, cobb intake, grimmspeed manual boot controller, turbosmart bov. my next purchase is going to be the cobb v3 I need a tune asap.... lol
So you're running a full exhaust, an intake, atmospheric blow off valve, and a manual boost controller... How high did you turn up your boost and how long have you been running it like that?
I turned it down to 5lbs and I drive like a grandma haha but yea I think it might of been tuned before I bought it but I really don't know it had the spt exhaust and bov which is still being recirculated, also the clutch is decently heavy. I just baby my car pretty much
5 lbs - watch out world hes coming on strong! Something sounds a little fishy man - you might want to make an emergency trip to get that taken care of. Just a heads up from someonewhoknowsnothing
That's not going to save you. Get it tuned today. Maybe the engine will just blow for the next owner instead of you.
look its not my first rodeo with modified turbo'd cars. ive built my are share of cars but this is my first Subaru hence why I came here to get info and learn more about them that's just the way I work. just would like some tips and come out and meet some new people
Any gas station will have the equipment you need: Really though, you can hit up NF Performance or RS Motors. They're the preferred tuners in the Cities.
You know how I know your experience was with DSMs? Seems like every DSM'er that picks up a Subaru does the same thing: Intake, exhaust, BOV, MBC then they call it a day. If you change anything the ECU can see, it loses its **** and tries to compensate. Usually causing more issues than when you started. If you still have stock pieces, I'd suggest putting them back on until you can get tuned to try and spare your engine as much as you can.
yea I have a few things. im sure ill be able to tune it next week but I need to snag up an accessport next Friday, but thanks for the info is there a reason why Subaru is so different is it just the H4 or the way they do their ECU's?
A little bit of both. Subarus don't like to see deviation with air flow. And I'm not completely sure on the GRs, but Subaru typically puts too small of injectors on their cars from the factory. Even stock, the Injector Duty Cycles are very high.
