Drove Highway 210 thru Jay Cooke park today. It used to one of the worst roads in the state. The road crews are just putting the finishing touches on it and it is great now. Trees are turning and the road is twisty. Not much traffic during the week.

It was in pretty good shape the last time I drove it, just under two years ago.

the park ranger in the headquarters there talked about it being one of the worst in the state. i don't know if it was that bad but i never would go thru there on a bike at speed too many cracks/holes mid turn makes life interesting

I have yet yo drive on it since they re-opened it, but i'm looking forward to it. Maybe the state will get their act together and re-pave all of skyline too (ha, like that'll ever happen)

That would be a shame...all that gravel goodness going to waste;)

Last time I was through there (more than 6 months ago) there were big holes in the road...big enough to seriously F you're car up!

No I meant they should just re-do the paved part. Aka the section between I-35 and the east end of duluth. The West section can stay dirt.

So we went for a cruise tonight: the dirt part of skyline, hooked around through Gary-New Duluth, than hit up the freshly-paved section of Hwy 210 thru Jay cooke. 210 is AMAZING! If I had a car, I definetly would have had a hell of a time, it was still good in the truck though. Then I continued and got onto county rd 45 in carlton and followed that to hwy 23 which is always good. Then we hit up Tobies in Hinckley and took I-35 back. It was about 170 miles round trip, but it was nice.

So if your coming to duluth anytime soon, I highly suggest getting off at the Carlton exit and taking Hwy 210 through Jay Cooke, you wont regret it.
