Looks like we won't get any snow for at least another week. Wait on the snow tires. Come driving with us!
Car is on jackstands right now, wheels just got painted and are curing. I only have 1 set of wheels til spring, but stay in touch! I will attend almost all of these runs next year. Way too much funnnnnn!!!!!!!11 Dude, it's worth it. GO!!!
is this the same guy that does all the euro tours in wis? after seeing the vid i think i might be down. good time to use my new lens
I've been designing great driving routes in western Wisconsin for the past few years, and I lead tours for several area clubs. I guarantee these will be some of the best roads you will ever drive. More hills and curves per mile than just about any place in the country.
I have had a blast at your events (hill climb, Amery, etc), but these always have me nervous, especially after viewing the video where people are wayyyyy over the center line. But alas, I will be at an rallyx that day.
Yep, the only time we go wayyyyy over the center line is when the first car radios that the road is clear. We announce "car up" when we see oncoming traffic. It's nice to have friends looking out for you!
And makes the drive 1000x better. To experience the roads in a whole new way!:naughty: I had a blast at both Fall Fun Runs that Matt hosted, and I'm sure that these are equally enjoyable! Unfortunately, my winters went on last Saturday, and they feel way too soft for the driving anticipated. I would encourage all that are able to join this run! I promise you that there is nothing quite like it!
segfault's weather forecast calls for strong winds, gravel & dust flurries with a 100% change of high speed twisties.
Look out for the crazy hicks...I heard something about them being on the hunt for cars with big wings :naughty:
And don't forget they have their guns out for hunting season.:eek3: I believe that the farm with the angry man was county DD? It was a hard left hairpin corner. He came from about a mile back on the right. May want to steer clear of there.
The hick's bark was worse than his overbite anyway...could have been much worse than being threatened by a water pump.
Bump! Still dry in the morning, cool temps in the low 40s. Kinda quiet here, apparently nobody else is as excited as I...
Nice cool temps for the turbos. Latest forecasts say just 30% chance of precip, so it looks good! Hope to see a few more Subies. This will be my last drive of the season. Soon we transition to Snow Drift Olympics!
This was a great tour. I had a radio this time and it made the whole experience even better. There was a Ford GT that I was tailing on a straight away. I won't say that I was speeding, but the needle ran out of numbers on my speedometer.
I don't think I'll ever forget that car!! I definitely won't forget the mass quantity of gravel it threw at me when he got on the throttle! *THAT* car needs mud flaps...
Nice driving, guys! Excellent flirting with waitress Katie at Bogus Creek. Weather stayed dry until the drive home, everybody stayed safe, and lapping the dirt tri-oval was a great way to end the day. The Ford GT40 was fun to watch. Too bad he corded a tire and had to peel off early. Matt's video camera decided not to record for more than 20 seconds at a time, so this last tour of the season will have to live on in our memories, unless someone else has video!
Thanks Tom. That was really a great tour, just as much fun as the Subie tour I was on a few weeks ago, though I was only one of two Subies on this one. I missed seeing the rainbow of Subies coming round a corner. So don't be shy of joining a cross-race tour next time.
Out of numbers Sounds like your saying you were speeding. Fortunately I was there as a witness and can say with absolute certainty; no speeding took place on this tour!
Spirited driving, yes. Illegal speeding, no. Personally I think that anyone who exceeds the speed limit should be taken out back o' the shed and maimed.
My speedo is modified to only read up to 30 mph. So I can't tell anything above that. I can usually just "feel" that I'm within the limit.
A great video of the Ring. I think I need to move to Nurburg Germany...One guy says her drives the track 1000 times a year http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4895205441582450216
I'm down. The Nordschleife is downright scary. As many of you know, drivers like Jackie Stewart pushed hard to ban professional racing from running at the green hell. If ever there was a no mistakes track, this is it. Some of the best drivers ever have wrecked and wrecked hard at this, and only this track. The Nurburgring averages 1 fatality per week (Damn). AVERAGE speed on the north course (for a Pro) is 160Km per hour (100MPH!!!). Average speed on most tracks range from 50-70MPH. The challenge @ Nurburgring would be finding/renting a car you felt safe driving. The 14 Euro fee might seem small, but the wear and tear on a car driven at this track is huge. I'd bet actual cost is no less than $200 US per lap. Check out this article. This is the most informative Nurburgring "do's and don’ts" I've ever come across. http://www.heiser.net/documents/nurburgring/
