6AM in the morning. Raining hard. Low visibility. Doing 30mph going up the ramp to go 169 North from 212/62E. It may have been a concrete slab/road barrier that fell over onto the ramp. I hit it pretty hard and my right wheel front and back have minor bents in the lip area from going over it. I hope it can be fixed otherwise I am in the market for some slightly used stock 17" silver BBS wheels for 04 STi. Other cars may have hit this thing too cuz there were cars pulled over. Sucks big time.

At least you just have some wheel damage then and weren't one of those on the side of the road that got smashed. :?

i did dukes of hazzard once over one of those godzilla highway street lights that had fallen over all 3 lanes on 394.

killed a rim and we had to do an alighment.

the city wouldnt pay for it, they said that it is the drivers responsability to slowdown in poor visability.

I knew it. The pothole was suppose to have a cone barricade there, but it must have been knocked over/blown away. There were 6-7 cars reported that hit that hole and was towed. I got to work not too far off and knew right away that my steering input was different. The right side wheels are both bent. The rear tire got a flat. I had a flatbed tow me away to BP Morries. They did an analysis and here is the damage:

    1) New RE070s x4
    2) 2 new 17'' BBS silver rims
    3) Replace right side fog lamp cover (it hit so hard that this popped out)
    4) He said something about a stress in the frame, behind the firewall it's wavy...some wiring harness came loose and went through the front. I have no idea what the hell any of this means but the Body Shop will look at it on Monday. waaaaa

I think this car is totally F'd.

Actually, the STI rims are some of the stronger ones out there. We had an 04 STI here at the dealership that got test flown (no, really) off a curb somewhere around 60-80 mph and went for 40 feet before landing hard enough to set off the airbags. All 4 rims bent, but didn't shatter. That's the difference between a cast and forged wheel. A cast wheel would've just broken apart. Part of the contributing factor in this case is that a 45 series tire isn't a whole lot of protection for potholes and other road hazards. Still, to take an impact like that and bend rather than break is pretty remarkable. Which Morries Bodyshop did it get taken to, Minnetonka or BP?

I hope the BP one cause it is obvioulsy closer and will do a hell of a lot better job I bet. I saw you RexN up there today when I was getting my oiled changed. Briefly over herd your story and was felt sorry. Got some suspension problems of my own right now. I tried to say hi to you Brian as well but you were no where to be found.

Brian, I took it to BP. Jeff, the service manager has been my main contact. MNAutomatic, you were probably there waiting right when I came in? I saw an 02 WRX with carbon deck lid, morette lamps...was that yours?

Coincidentally, I got home today and saw a mailing from Morries Minnetonka. It is an invite to trade my 04 in for any 05/06 Subaru. There was some incentives, $1500 off, additional $500 off, and low rates as low as 1.9%. The managers at Minnetonka are "authorized to pay top dollar" for my car. Hmmm...

perfect timing, you can now get eh 06 sti, and trade em in one with 2 bent rims 4 bad re70s, and more dmg. ironic

brian i have heard the story of BPs flying STi before. iw as just stating that if STi/BBS can made a stronger wheel it would be indestructible!

 since we live in what other call the frozen north, perhaps we should giveup street preping our cars, and just rally prep them. with STi gravel suspension and those 15" rally wheel w/ ice tires. i would fear no pothole lol.

I actually saw this pothole you guys are referring to.

It was a storm sewer that didn't have any cement poured around it, and appeared to be around two feet deep.

It was obviously some sort of construction in progress, and certainly not your average pothole that just randomly appears. I'd give a nice call to the city if I were you.

2 ft deep storm sewer with no cement poured around it. Holy geez. I don't know if calling the city is going to do anything except give me a place to vent which I have already done here ;) Anyways, my insurance co. gave me the go ahead to get the car fully restored - I smell an increase in premiums around the corner. booo

    MNAutomatic, nice car!

All these events that has occured to my car makes me want to just mod the hell out of it since it doesn't feel so stock anymore.

Car was broken into at BP this weekend. Head unit, amp, sub stolen. There was another older Impreza there that had its stereo stolen too. It had carbon fiber hood, exhaust, Injen License plate, blue Impeza.

I was just curious, I work right up from that exit just off of Londonderry in Minnetonka and I live in Shakopee. I don't know of any other MNSubaru members that are close to me.
