Hi all, my name is Aaron and I am currently shopping for an '05 and up legacy GT with manual trans. I'm hoping to be a bit more active on here and learn as much as I can about the LGT. I also drive a '91 eagle talon awd tsi.
Welcome and good luck with your search sir. You do not need to own a Subby to be part of the family, but you do have to a nice person.
you dont happen to have a vanity plate that starts with 1G...do you? reason i ask, i was behind a talon with that plate this morning on 47S in blaine.
I don't drive my talon in the winter. I'd like an 2005 body style, but I really don't like to get 1st year cars and I'm reading that occasionally the 5 spd can be problematic. Sadly, it seems like all the LGT's for sale are 2005s.
I owned an 05 LGT LTD sedan with the 5 speed, had it stage 2 for almost a year and occasionally drove hard, never had one issue with it, loved it, but had to sell it. Now I have another 05 LGT LTD but it's a wagon same 5 speed, still love it. going stage 2 tomorrow.
Don't concern yourself too much with Subaru related transmission problems. They all last if you shift them nice and keep the power reasonable. If your like me and like to launch the car on occasion you have to deal with a broken one every so often. On both occasions it has been fairly pain free to replace.
Thanks guys, I'm contemplating going auto now. SO I'm trying to learn about those, i might even go NA. I really don't want to do anything other than drive this car.
Patients is key when looking for the right car. I know it is hard but will be worth it once that right one comes along.
Tru dat! I looked for my car for close to a year before the right one landed in my garage, at a price close to $5000 less than the other ones I had looked at. It's funny the LGT's are few and far between right now. I got a WRX limited, which is what I wanted, but I started considering a LGT after a while because I found so many lol.
LGT's aren't going to get any more plentiful. The stopped making them in 2012. Puts a damper on people trading up.
Ditto. I bought it new with the idea of driving it into the ground a couple times. There's no sense in taking the initial depreciation hit if that isn't the plan. If the trans blows I might rethink that. Otherwise, she's staying around for 200k+.
