Anyone seen this movie yet? Pretty funny in that 'stupid funny' kind of way. I believe it was from the same director as "Shawn of the Dead". And the bonus at the end. Silver WRX done up like a police car. Last scene is going slidewayz in the rex! Worth seeing for that alone...hahaha Discuss
I liked Shawn of the Dead more. I thought Hot fuzz was a little boring up until he jump kicked the grandma in the face, then things got good.
This is true, it wasn't hilarious by any means. But stupid funny it was. Did no one else see the police car at the end?
got it Dl'd on my laptop... if you are like me and From overseas - with English heritage you are used to this sort of film and humor.. hey STOOOOO ... I thoroughly enjoyed it... you wanna see another funny one watch the FULL MONTY!!!
Yep, I saw it at the pictures (that's movies to you lot). It was actually funny all the way through, but many of the jokes were very subtle, or relied on a bit more knowledge of the local pop culture. You have no idea of the number of cameos there were for people well known in the UK, yet totally unknown here. And anything where Timothy Dalton's arse gets well and truly kicked is fine by me; I still haven't forgiven him for politically correcting James Bond. I'd rather've had George Lazenby back in the saddle. Right, Nate ? If you like Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead, check out Spaced... http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=spaced. I still go back to the old faves from time to time: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Trainspotting. The Full Monty is also extremely good, and was filmed about 20miles from my home. I still chuckle about "anti-fat bastard cream". Brassed Off is another good one, but it has a lot more political overtones, and relies on the viewer having a bit of background knowledge of Thatcher's Britain and what happened to the pits. If you want a quick hit of mindless comedy, look up The Young Ones. Still hysterical 25 years later. I'd better go, since I actually have work to do. G'night all, Stuart.
I saw it a while back. It was pretty good. My favorite part is the tripple translation and the subsequent reposession of all the guns. Kinda lame the trailers shots nearly all took place in the last 20 mins of the movie. Shawn of the dead was a better movie though
O.k...crappy "I took a picture of my t.v. pic". But its still an 04/05 silver rhd wrx police car! And it has a custom 'HF' on the roof of the car...Hot Fuzz:roll::laugh: And he drove it like he stole it!:naughty: Best part of the movie, IMO.
The biggest reason why most people don't find a lot of this movie funny is they don't really get british humor. It's very different from what we normally see here. Watch a lot of Monty Python's Flying Circus or Faulty Towers and you'll be more in tune.
just rented it tonight.....f-ing hilarious!! might have to buy it before too long. and I'll see if I can't get a better quality screenshot of the WRX cop car.
Red Dwarf Black Adder (Rowan Atkinson) Mr Bean (Rowan atkinson) Best of Benny Hill (old comedy) Are you being Served I have anways enjoyed watching Mrs Bouqet 'bucket' (shows' name escapes me) many many more.... that I grew up watching...
Hyacinth Bucket was in Keeping Up Appearances. And a cousin of mine used to be married to a Hill's Angel. Nate is missing a whole slew of excellent comedy shows that you guys will probably never see: Porridge Ain't Half Hot, Mum Dad's Army One Foot In The Grave Open All Hours 'Allo 'Allo Only Fools And Horses The New Statesman The Young Ones The League Of Gentlemen (no, not The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen) Last Of The Summer Wine Chelmsford 123 A few years ago, I bought *all* the Red Dwarf VHS tapes, including the two Smeg Ups tapes. I think it was 20 tapes in all. Sold them off a couple of years later on Ebay for only $40 less than I paid for them, and now have the full set of DVDs. If you ever get a chance to watch it, keep in mind that the first season had almost no budget, and the characters were still finding their feet. But from the second season on it just gets better and better. My favourite episode is still Queeg. I've also got the Black Adder DVDs. This faired the same as Red Dwarf in so far as getting off to a slow start in the first season, with the main character being a bit weaselly. But he really comes into his own in the second season. And Miranda Richardson's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth is priceless. And if you ever get a chance to see any of Eddie Izzard's stand up shows, watch them. I think he is one of the absolute funniest comedians of all time. Hey, Nate, what did you guys have for local comedy shows ? I used to love The Paul Hogan Show. His way of making toast was brilliant. Stuart.
yeah those... I havent even heard of those others you listed.. remember in Australia we never got all the British shows... ha ha
ps.. can you copy me some Red Dwarf dvds??? I never really watch the show much.. saw them here and there late night after clubbing... ha ha
to be honest Stooo, I barely remember too many shows... ha ha they werent too rememberable... teh Footy Show was a crack up Saturday Night with Darrel Summers was awesome (and Red Simmons) Comedy CLub was ok... (think that was the name - Eric Bana aka the Hulk was onthat show) Rove LIve - Kinda like Leno's show Paul Hogan was funny when I was growing up but I cant really remember his shows too much I was really young.... Dame Edna was huge over in Australia...
Dame Edna was huge anywhere. Paul Hogan had an asbestos panel on his kitchen wall, with a couple of nails stuck in it. He would hang pieces of bread from the nails, and then toast them with a blow torch. I still miss Aussie Rules Football. Really young ? You're only 3yrs younger than I am ! Stuart.
yeah but Paul Hogan is old... ha ha ha... I watched him before I was 10 so that is a logn time ago... and yes now I remember his toasting...
Just found a BBC site that has about 40 years of Britcoms on it... http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/clips/. There are a few on the list even I'd forgotten about. I'm almost ashamed I failed to mention "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em". Stuart.
