I use my cell phone. Showing up late for work takes care of how well I hear it and how many times I snooze it.

+1 Dream machine, been using for several years. Recently started using a Squeezebox Boom, awesome tech, but overkill for alarm clock. Squeezebox radio would be perfect. Squeezebox FTW!

I sport a sunrise clock that brightens up the room gradually over 30 minutes or more simulating the sunrise. Works really nice to wake you up gradually and peacefully rather than zero to blaring radio.

Get really drunk, put on the darkest sunglasses you own, have someone drive you to the store and try out all of the alarm clocks. If you can't figure out how to use it and what the different buttons do in that mental state, you won't be able to use it at O-dark-thirty in the morning when you're half asleep and trying to hit snooze.

I use my cell phone these days, I keep it at the other end of the house so I have to walk over to it to shut it off. That usually wakes me up enough so that I can figure out what I'm doing...

I used to have 3 singing/dancing Japanese alarm clocks from the 80's.

    1) Pig working out. It says "good morning" 3 times, each time progressively louder and explodes after the third time.

    2) Black cat with a trumpet. He sings (roughly translated from Japanese) "Good morning, my name is Black Cat. It's time to wake up. Wake the #%@* UP!"

    3) Awa dancing girl. She sings (roughly translated from Japanese) "In a village of idiots there are waking fools and sleeping fools. If you're an idiot anyway you might as well wake up and make yourself useful."

2 of them are broken now from being thrown across the room but they sure did a good job of waking me up.

I use my cell phone now, but that sunrise clock sounds like a fantastic idea worth trying.

The sunrise clocks are awesome in the winter or anytime you have to wake up in the dark, it makes it sooooo much more bearable. Also, since the radio rarely ever comes on (I'm usually awake by then), my wife never has to wake up when I do, which also makes my day better... :)

you have a ipod touch/i phone?
there is an alarm clock app that lets you use a variety of colors for the alarm numbers, and you can have it wake you up to any song you have in your library.

+1 for the Bose Wave Radio. I love mine, plus it is way too expensive to violently smash.

I've got the GE 74853. It was free to me, so that's why I have it.

It is a nice clock radio with some neat features. What I like it the two separate alarms you can set with either radio or buzz alarm. I don't like using snooze, so I set it just under 20 minutes apart. I seem to get better baby sleep that way.:ugh:

This is EXACTLY why I'm looking. She can never tell what time it is on hers and if one of us is going to use one, I want her to have a schweet one.

Sounds cool, I've got some Philips clock where the volume starts at zero and slowly increases. Seriously reduces stress levels to be waken up gradually like that.

I have a 28 year old alarm clock that I'm married to. I sometimes wish I could hit the snooze in the middle of the day.....hmmmmm

    Im kiddin, Im kiddin,

Ours is a Phillips aJ3145 dual alarm. Its old. we've had it for a pretty long time.

But what I like is it has 2 alarms you can set. Which comes in handy if you and your wife get up at different times.
