Get a 1.8T. It is a lighter engine. The VR6 is a pig.

i would personally avoid VW at all costs.
    here are my reasons:

    1: less reliable
    a. Prone to breaking
    b. Parts harder/more expensive to find
    2: Mods = Expensive
    a. almost all mods will cost you more just cuase its VW
    b. difficult to make fast, w/ out $$$$$$$

    Reasons for:

    1: cool blue gauges
    2:......

everyone that i know that has had a VW has had major issues w/ them.

if your interested my buddy is selling his 99 1/2 GTI VR6. he just had the TPI (i think its this one) sensor replaced, it was a facory issue with those cars and gave him a hard time. now that its fixed he wants to sell. the car is metallic snot green, and goes pretty good. he wants 9500 for it

I agree, unless you have an unlimited budget, or a friend who works on volkswagens for a living... stay away from them at all costs. Although I'd love an R32, I don't think I could afford the upkeep on a german automobile.

I have owned 3 VWs in my life (and my dad had 2)... NONE of them had serious issues. What has plagued VW is the little things, door handles, switches, etc. It was more of an annoyance factor that got me out of VW; that, and the new body style a the time. It is really annoying when people jump on the bandwagon... There are MANY VWs out there without any major issues. My $1.55, anyway.

Wow.. awesome video. BTW, my wife says go for the VW. She has the 1.8T Wolfsberg one.. Not sure how it compares to a VR6, but I know my Rex woops it's ass. She does have heated seats though... Trade off? don't think so. Stick with Subi's.
