Wow pretty impressive. Are you getting a leak? I'm wondering if something really cold (icy water? dunno how though) touched the exhaust housing while it was really hot...CRRRRACK.

Stress from uneven heating of two different metals (that expand and contract differently under heat) would be my guess. I'm suprised the material on that flange is that brittle though!

my warranty is gone, cuzz of my parts and "excessive abuse."

but the thread where the bolt goes is like brand new. me and my friends have never seen anything like it. because if anything...it shoulda just cracked. but nope, no leak...just people scatchin their heads.

so any suggestions? should i just buy a whole new turbo? i was thinkin of a mitsubishi turbo...because i think its a lil bigger and straight bolt on. wrx is td04 16g? and the mitsu is td04 18g? or something like that. im too broke to get a nice one...cuzz then i would have to get new injectors, feul pump, etc... i have a utec that someone can tune for me if i get a new turbo. i'll pay $$. but im not sure of what to do.

You know that there is no bolt there, right? That bolt hole remains empty I believe. I think that used to have a bracket on it that held your stock up pipe, but now that your uppipe is upgraded, it is gone. I will go check my engine bay in a little while, but I think that is why there is nothing there.

I just looked, there isn't supposed to be anything over that bolt. The turbo flange for the Subaru doesn't cover that threaded stud on the uppipe. You are fine. Especially if there are no leaks. If you need, I can take a picture of my engine bay to show you.

What a minute, There is supose to be something there. That is one of the studs for the support brackets for the flange that the turbo is bolted to. It should be there as it is one of two brackets that hold up that 20+ pound turbo. I have never skipped puting it on when doing an up-pipe as it is important.

I have no idea where mine is then. I have a VF34, and I don't remember putting it back on when I was installing it.

And that headlight effect is from taking shots of the car in the dark, from a distance with a flash. The distance is just far enough to light up some of the more reflective surfaces, but without washing out the car. Then, using photoshop, i increased the contrast a little to make the darks darker, and the lights lighter. It looks mean, huh?

Another thing you could possibly do, and I have thought of doing it myself...there is a shop in San Diego called Group 5 Motorsports. They sell the BMW angeleye upgrades...basicly a cold cathode tube that bends and can be fitted inside your headlamp assembly. I saw a white STi in San Diego that had it done and it was absolutely awesome. It lights up the inside of your headlamps nicely, and his were wired through his parking lamps so they could be turned on without the headlamps (if you haven't done the DRL removal)

    No leak? Drive on! :D

Start saving now while it's still okay. Who knows when it might start cracking up the side of the housing [xx(]
