you could plug the recirc pipe with some sort of a plug...or take your air silencer out, that would give it sort of a BOV sound

Try it without the silencer. Its pretty loud. I have that done on my 04 STI.

I am currently using Justins TXS RFL BOV which makes the car drive like crap and is extremely loud. I would not recommend going atmospheric unless you HAVE to have the noise. Some of the aftermarket recircs are pretty loud but try the silencer first(free mods are the best). I think you'll be happy with that.

If you take your wheel off its very quick to remove the silencer. Otherwise you can get it out from the top with a little more effort.

If you remove the silencer, you get a little bit more sound. But the best way is to purchase a short-ram intake, like the one from Perrin, that's all you'll need. You'll be able to hear the all the turbo and stock BOV sounds.

which one? the one about me forgetting to tighten the right bolt on pete's bov? lol, sorry pete.

anyways, yes, your best/cheapest options would be taking the silencer out and putting on a perrin short ram. thats exactly what i have right now if you want to hear it. i'll be at firestone friday.

Yeah that and the story of him going under an overpass and his car backfired, lighting up the whole underpass and sounding like a cannon went off! Hahaha, I would've given my left nut to see that!

If you want to hear your bov... Take off the recirc pipe from the bov and plug it. Let your factory valve vent atmosphericaly. It sounds ggod under full boost, but not at low boost levels becuase it let's it off too soon.

i would find a gfb hybrid. it vents atmospherically and back to intake so you dont run rich. it isnt too loud unless under full boost. i love mine.

Has anyone ever actually done this?
I did just for fun untill I could get a proper recirc hose elbow custom fabricated for my STI intercooler and my car ran like ****. It stalled on every single stop sign and idled at 20:1 air/fuel ratio and leaner. Cruise was at 10:1 and richer. I had a thread on NASIOC about this... Here is the video:

do a cai or a short ram.
you will do the snorkle-ectomy at the same time.
if you still want more, get a bov that recirculates at low pressures and evacs some to atmosphere at higher pressures.

you can delete the factory recirc hose, but you need to plug the inlet where that air normaly reenters the intake. and i'd suggest doing it with something that wont suck right back in...

By installing a K&N drop in filter along with the silencer delete will give you very little sound. Not enough to be happy with.

Like I said, and a couple of other people....Get an aftermarket intake!
