I was just wondering if you guys had any good techniques on taking off the Subaru emblem off my trunk as well as the stupid dealer decal right above the Impreza emblem? Any ideas would help, I just want to do it as cleanly and easily as possible.

I think those are attached by an adhesive. Try using some kind of solvent but be careful about the paint. Or if you feel barbaric enough, i think you can just pry them off.

I pretty much figured the rip off technique but I don't want to ruin the paint, brand new car.....

heat helps, put a blowdryer to it for a minute, that'll soften the adhesive

I heard dental floss works real good, and a hair dryer to soften it up a bit. One of my winter projects is to debadge the trunk.

I use blow dry for 5 mins then use some fishing line to get it off. After wards, you have to get rid of the adhesive by rubbing it off. i think we have a tread about that here somehere

Go to HomeDepot and get yourself a little bottle of "Goo Gone" it works like magic. Then do the dental floss trick, use it like a saw and cut the adhesive from behind the letters, then rub the adhesive off with a rag and the Goo Gone. When you are done, get a bottle of cleaner wax and rub those areas well, the Goo Gone and the rubbing will remove the shine from your paint.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like a plan for the Subaru logo but no one has really said anything about the dealer decal, sticker deal. I was thinking about taking a exact-o knife and trying to very carefully pry the sticker off but all I see is me ****ing the paint up going that route. Any ideas for that part of the job?

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use an Xacto knife.

Best way is to heat up the adhesive and use dental floss or fishing line... Slowly pull across and pry the letter as you work your way into the adhesive. It will leave some adhesive behind but you can clear that out with Goo Gone or 3M paint safe adhesive remover.

I think he's referring to a decal/sticker thats flush on the trunk. Heat it up and use your fingernail!

Notice how I said "all I can see is me ****ing it up." refering to the Exact-o knife. I may be stupid but not that dumb...:D

I guess I'll try the heat and my fingernail and see how that works.

    Yeah, what most people said.

    Heat with hair dryer
    Uses dental floss
    Goo gone,
Finger nails to pick off the rest...
I went one step further with some gritty wax, almost rugbbing compound to finish it off.

I've done this to two trunks, (both were mine, one after trading to a buddy for big wing), and both came out perfect, let me know if you need any help.
