Has anyone ever had their Subaru serviced at the White Bear Acura Subaru? How does it compare to other places. I just got a Subaru and reading on the forums here, everyone goes to the Minnetonka location.
I go there it's kinda pricy like any dealership but I had no problems. Although they did replace my timing belt about 5 months ago and now I'm starting to get a squeak every time I start my car.
Minnetonka gives us a discount on parts and labor(20% on parts & 10% on labor), that's why everyone goes there. Some of the techs there are also on the forum here. So we have more of a connection with them and they are great at what they do. Not saying that they aren't good at WBS, but i KNOW that they are at Minnetonka. They're worth the drive! http://mnsubaru.com/threads/minnetonka-subaru-10-labor-and-20-parts-discount.3947/
I haven't dealt with their service department. My experience with sales is enough to ensure I don't go there for anything, ever.
WBS service and parts depot is fine. No issues or complaint's. Not outstanding or poor service or anything. It's just like most other dealerships. They might know/hate me cause I always watch my car when they're working on it instead of sitting in the waiting room.
I had warranty work done at white bear a couple years ago. It was pretty painless although had it not been under warranty I would have gone to Minnetonka for the discount.
Here's another members thread on white bear subaru's service department. Lolz http://mnsubaru.com/threads/did-whi...my-moms-new-2011-wrx-w-360-miles-on-it.35239/
Maybe someone could find the thread where a member had his car there for a no start, they diagnosed it as a locked up motor. It was a clutch switch, Just saying....
Tried to find that post but couldn't locate it. But after reading through some old posts, Bloomington Subaru is the worst, White Bear is Ok (not bad nor good), and Morries is the best.
I had my shortblock replace by them last summer and took them about 3 months to get it done. Kept calling, they said this day, called, car not ready, try again on this day, nope not ready, missing some parts that are on order..etc.. They did not offer me a loaner car until 2 months into fixing my car. Overall they are decent though, service manager was able to work with me and gave me a discount on the total cost. If you are getting your car repaired there, they offer you some nice loaner cars free, I've gotten a 2011 TSX. Also a nice little complimentary drinks and desserts.
Had a the motor of my o9 FXT replaced there after breaking down on the way back from Ely. My service rep kept the communication open which was greatly appreciated. It took forever to get the car back, but I feel they did a good job. They were able to give us a loaner after two weeks of waiting. We drove that for an additional 3 or 4 weeks, maybe longer. I don't care for the parts department. Their customer service is fine, but the pricing is way out of whack. The oil filter and crush cap are a couple bucks more than MTKA at regular price. I spend that in gas driving to MTKA to get my parts at a better price. MTKA FTW!
No disrespect to WBS, but we received an 02 WRX that just had a new short block put in by WBS. However Subaru had a new tech on the job and he put in the wrong size valve shims, he also reversed the cam caps, creating scoring all over and sending bits of metal throughout. Over all, they do just fine on most customer cars and I enjoy doing business with them.
