i didnt see a thread like this so i thought id ask it, how many people are regular users on this forum because it seems like i see the same guys (and girls). in each and every thread my guess would be probably 50 maybe 60 does anyone have more accuate numbers or what
not sure how many regular users there are, but there is definately a number of guys who post a majority of the content. Seeing as I've been gone for a couple of months in the land of no computers, did something happen with tehwhoot? I only ask because I dont see the guys that spend a lot of time on tehwoot over here lately.
Being a new guy to the site, I feel that most of the regular posters tend to pay attention to other regular posters more. In one case, I posted a thread that was very similar to a post made by a regular on here. We installed very similar parts to our cars. I got 2 or 3 replies, his went on to 2 pages at least. For me personally, I seem to relate more to the off-topic posts here because this site is geared more towards '01 and up model years. There doesn't seem to be much technical assistance for us '00 and earlier model owners unless we do a later turbo swap. Though I think that's pretty common among all import websites, it seems if you don't have a turbo, you aren't valid information.
as represented by the "club logos" as of late.....might as well change the name to MNWRX, or at least MNImpreza
Yeah, this site isn't the greatest for technical info, nasioc, rs25, etc have a lot more members and info. I think it's a bit better lately as far as older/non turbo cars since a few people are getting more into the older imprezas. A few years ago it really felt like the mn wrx club . I think there's a lot more banter between the regular members, joking around, etc. Sometimes 2 useful replies is better than 2 pages of jokes. But you're right, it does take a while to "fit in." I felt the same thing at first. The ice race aftermath was unfortunate, but still better than after last year's event. The argument was really much worse than anything that actually happened leading up to the argument. It's nice to hear from newer members. Thanks.
i think the "regulars" just tend to post more because we arent too worried about making an impression or anything, i know i was way more quiet and hesitant when i first joined with the SVX...now i am obnoxious and post way to often.
I can see where a regular would give more attention to a regular because they actually know eachother in real life. Newbies don't usually know many people on the site and are quiet at first until they get a feel for the site and it's users, minus a few exceptions here and there... I think a lot of people do 30 times more reading than posting too because they are a little scared to. I think the best way to get out of the newbie phaze, to get comfortable and to gain a little "respect" around here shall we say, is to show up at some meets- or at least meet some of the members one way or another. For me, i've really only met a few of the duluth guys in person. I hate that, but I haven't been here for very long, and I've missed a lot of opportunities for reasons out of my control. And its a little weird for me and probably people responding to my posts because niether side really knows who they are typing to. I'm 10 times more comfortable with posting on a member's thread who I've met before as compared to a person I've never met or seen. It's hard to gain an accurate impression by only reading typed words. It's funny how you can just gain respect for a screen name basically just by word of mouth though (and post counts, lol)
The day I bought my car I went to Firestone and got a very warm welcome, and ever chance I get I go down there. I suggest to anyone that want to actually me other members to go to Firestone or your local spot.
ALEX please please please be quiet and stop saying such offensive stuff regarding issues you have no purpose talking about... this site has become such a haven for sarcasm, anger, bitterness.. although the talk of buttseks and all degenerate actions of humanity is ok in here, telling some one like yourself who has nothing to offer in advice to shut the %^%^% up isnt acceptable I guess, but instead it is ok it seems for you to bring to this kitchen of hypocrisy a huge ladel of nothing, which you tend to stir the pot with... thus being said I will gladly hold open the door in such a way that it would not redden your butt as it closes oh so hard behind you... is that better Steve ?!
was it maybe cause people are tired of 2-3 threads of the same topic.. and expect most people to look over other thread to see if they have their answers??? heck this is a smaller club.. out of a regular 150 people who may visit consistantly in a week you have maybe 20 main posters... ME... Bill, josh (tangled.........) Jason Aegis Tom Joel (not as much lately) Shibbs Suba Steve Rich Sevenrex? some random parts guys um and a few more...
I read almost everything posted here and couple easily add my .02 to every topic But I choose not to cause it gets so cluttered when everyone is trying to be the funny guy-BTW most the people who think they are funny/witty around here really aren't.
You cant just be a member of the "board" you need to be a member of the club. I am a newer member myself and i too, was afraid to post on here. However when i first bought my car, i stumbled upon this site while looking for WRX forums. I saw that everyone met at Firestone. So one Friday night i took a drive an ended up there, got to know the guys and received a very warm welcome. nuke, Idget, T-bone, Bikerboy, wall of TVs and many others were quick to answer my newb questions without being a d!ck about it. So with that being said, It is so much better when you get involved with the group. (IE. Duluth cruise, Fall fun runs,la crosse trip, Firestone) Once you do that, you will see that MOST of us a great people and are a blast to be around.
seriously, once you start spending some time around the club you see its a great group of people that tend to have fun
but not too much or infractions occur and people get all butt hurt on the intranets.... currently installing padded walls in this forum so people wont hurt themselves.... and according to Benny I am not funny.... sweet.... now maybe some of the sarcasm people mistake from me will actually taken for what it is... what I think...
U R FUNNY wrxboy2003, even though you didn't say hi to me when we met at chipotle - you still are funnay!
you went on an unauthorized chipotle run??? how dare you!! you know you must clear this through me!!! lol
NO you were there! It was that last one we all went to - and Jason told me that wrxboy2003 was there, and he sat across from me and didn't say hi! But like I said, it doesn't matter
It's funny coming back in here after a hiatus and seeing proof that I am NOT the cause of all the problems on here. With that said, in my point of view, this place isn't a club. A club in my opinion is a group of people with similar interests. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't come here to talk cars, I come here to talk about whatever with people that share an interest in cars. If you expect people to talk nothing but subarus all day, you're high. And if you expect a bunch of 18-35yr old males to play nice all the time, you are high. Infractions are dumb, but whatever, I don't run the place. And I wont give any advice anymore, as it falls on deaf and dumb ears. I like this place, don't get me wrong. I have tons of great friends here, and I met the love of my life here. Can't go wrong there. And I, being an adult, can see why people have a tendancy to get a little snippy....again, 18-35yr old males....But in all seriousness, this place sucks sometimes. It's funny, in real life you can sit and tell someone what you think of them and what they say, and they can give you a rebuttal. Those two people usually go at it for a bit, then end up buying eachother beers. On MNSubaru, we play the 'last word' game, everyone goes after everyone till a mod dishes out points and locks the topic...the object of the game is to get your last word in before others can reply and right before the thread lock. Bonus points for not getting an "infraction" And please, call them points. Infractions makes it feel like grade school or something. And stop handing out "points" for people slapping a little bit of reality on someone. People say things, they get heated, and they speak their mind. Sometimes people need to hear the reality of things...like Martin needs to hear about misspelling "quiet" every time he does it otherwise he will be socially shunned by everyone he comes in contact with for the rest of his life. Let people talk, and get it out of their system. If someone takes it over the line, then give points or whatever. But seriously, part of what heats everyone up around here is everytime they are about to have a breakthrough with their little spats, the thread gets locked up. Also, I love you all. Even though I hate you constantly. Even Dynapar, even though I'm convinced he isn't in college and in fact never finished highschool. QUIET, MFer, QUIET!!!
I am sorry.. you kinda scared me... ha ha jk.. I thought I kinda said hi.. I am sorry... I can come across rude at times cause I am bad at introducing people I know to others like my wife to others, cause I can never remember names and feel like an idiot... ha ha actually I am not really an outgoing person around people I dont know.. am kinda shy.. once you know me and I am comfortable I open up more.. I guess thats why I can come across as a jerk online as there is no wall up.. ha ha and usually no filter...
I was talking to scuba just the other day about the purpose of this site. Is it social bonded together by subaru? Is it technical? Is it a "club"? Do you want the average outback owner on here for tech help? Do we want to be tied in somehow with SCCA or something like it? I understand their are rules of engagement posted somewhere on this site regarding conduct, but to a previous posters lament on just "ban me and get it over with"...without a true purpose and direction for the site, these issues will continue to surface and not be resolved. BTW whats "tehwoot"?
WOW! First Nate doesn't even say hi to her. Then you go all out and claim she wasn't even there. Ouch.
and actually if I do recall correctly, I moved up a chair or two for you and jason to sit down... so I wasn't a complete ass-hat... ha ha ha or was that for Phi111111
Unfortunately, nobody can be told what t3hw00t is, they must be shown. You can take the blue pill, and forget we even discussed this.... Or you can take the redpill and I show you just how low the internet can go.
I see this site and being both a social club and a technical/subaru club. It will probalby always be more social. But I think an Outback owner should be able to join and ask a few questions and feel welcome here. I'd like to see more club involvement with other activities/events, but I don't think actually being an affiliate of another club would work, the people who are interested in it can do it, but we can't force everyone to be interested in the same thing. tehwoot == www.t3hw00t.com,
I thought she had just saw him at chipotle recently. I did not think she was referring to the time you guys came to hopkins. my bad
I think that anyone can join and then ask questions, and they will eventually get the 2 page topics they are looking for, after they have been here a while. Case in point? ME. Look at one of my first threads. I wasn't here for more than a month, never posting. I think I had less than 50 posts here. And I got a nice response http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15166 I think this is like any other social site: you meet people, if you get along, great ... if you don't - there will always be someone around that you DO get along with. And people here really are great at helping out - unless they feel you need to use the search button. A lot of stuff has been asked before, and I feel that when they ask you to search they are not being mean, but rather insinuating that there could have been an expert opinion offered before. But this site has been good to me lately, except the drama - i really do feel like a few people need to grow up - but that's how it goes.
^^Where was redpill when I was in college? (wait a minute, Al Gore hadnt even invented the internet at that point yet). Is it a spin off of anything goes from this sites off topic section or does it have an audience all its own? I hit a couple of random pages quick...and I'll never look at my Thanksgiving turkey again the same way
I think that one of the main reasons why most of the non-turbo GC or whatever talk goes by the wayside is because most on here don't have much experience with working on these cars (myself included). Sometimes no response is better than a response with crappy info/advise.
It seems like every thread I go into these days I have to worry about slipping in a puddle of your tears.
i try to help out all i can with the old schooler (impreza) stuff, however rarely does anyone actually listen, IE the guy wondering why his car is running like dump when he is getting front O2 sensor codes....i mean cmon dude i dont think it gets more obvious
