Just curious how much oil your subaru leaks/burns currently.

Just topped mine off this morning, after ~1600 miles (including lotsa fun in the snow ;-) ), 3/4 Qt. brought me all the way to Full. not too shabby IMO for adding boost to a motor which already burns lotsa oil. no leaks though :)

My Impreza ('02 WRX engine) uses about 0.5 qts per oil change/ ~3000 miles very hard use.

My '00 Legacy GT uses about 0.25 qts per oil change on 8500 mile intervals.

1qt.+ per 1000 mi. My car has a problem...stealership wants to replace the turbo but needs me to jump through all sort of bs hoops first.

Both our LGT and WRX use about a 1/2 quart each every ~4k miles.

All cars burn oil. It's the nature of the beast.

    I lose about 1/2qt every 4k.

so are you telling me that since I changed my oil 3,545 miles ago according to my trip odometer and I just checked the dip stick last night after I washed my car and it was right on the full line right were it was after I changed the oil. I'm pretty sure its not burning oil if it hadn't moved in 3,545 miles.

Just because the dipstick is saying it's full doesn't mean you don't have fuel, water or coolant in there displacing the already burnt oil. Piston rings can't scrape all the oil off the cylinder walls so some is always left to be burnt.

^So if the dipstick is reading full, how in the hell do you top it off? Just curious b/c mine has never read low either.

Whether I ran 5000 miles between oil changes on full synthetic, or 3000/3500 on a 'high mileage' synthetic blend like I am currently, the oil has never been below the full mark. ???02wrx w/141,000 on the odometer.:dunno:

with my old, rusted through, oil pan.....I went through about 5-6quarts an oil change (which, with it leaking out at that rate, I'd put off until close to 8k miles, since it's getting fresh oil all the time anyway.....).

haven't had the new pan on there long enough to "measure" the difference.

I must baby mine then. I don't need to add a bit. I check it right before I drain it and its maybe a hair low. Not even worth adding any after 3-4k.

I'm confused here, the dip stick is reading full yet you think that my car is burning oil and its being replaced with coolant and gasoline?? That makes no sense, I've got 2 catch cans hooked out to get the blow by and I haven't seen more than a few drops in the cans in 10k and if there was coolant mixing in the oil I'm pretty sure I'd know since I blew the headgasket on my prelude and the oil deff. doesn't look like my prelude's did.

In 3500 miles, a car that is experiencing the basic minimal burn off won't be noticably low on the dipstick. If it is, then it is leaking or burning off an excessive amount of oil.
My 02 (with 65k) used to have a leak, but BPfixed it under warranty (sensor was leaking). Now it goes 3k without the level on the dipstick dropping.

Ya know I just so happened to click on this thread cause I was bored and look what I find ... I thought you guys were friends.

On topic though with this new SB I have yet to see any change on the dip stick. so maybe less than .25 qt. every change.
