I can't comment on price because I won't do it to my cats, but some vets won't declaw because it leaves the cat defenseless, so you'll have to call around. Obviously if you let your cat outside you should keep the back claws so it can climb trees to get away from other animals.

I trained my cats with a $40 Wal-Mart floor to ceiling tree. Anytime they went to scratch something I'd pick them up and place them on the tree. Less than a week and they got the picture. Just don't get berber carpet. They like the loops of carpet- lots of fun to pull on. I coated my cat tree in it.

How bad is he/she ripping up the furniture?

Only get rid of the front ones, keep the back ones in. I know that there is an animal hospital in Inver Grove Heights that will do it. Cuz that is where we got our cat declawed.

There is a newer procedure out there that uses a lazer to remove the claws, my girlfiriends brother just got there cats done with the lazer method, and the cat seemed to have no pain at all he was normal when he got home.

stilled ****ed up for the cat. i'm sure you'd be happy living your life without fingers or toes. i mean it's bad enough you'd already be down your nads

i know, i'm using it as a comparison. a cat's claws are basically your fingers. can't do **** without them

if you trim a cat's nails regularily and keep a good scratching post, they don't mess with the furniture very often - and you can train them to not claw it at all if it's really all that important. cat's can be trained. ours is like a dog -comes when you whistle, will play fetch. not as affectionate as a dog, but at least she poops in box lol

By the way the cat is about 8weeks. Its for my Kids, They both love!! Plus the kitten is scratching the hell out of them, thats why I had to ask around for Opinion. Thanks for the Info guys!!!:) I heart house pets.:)

how are the kids playing with the kitten? if a kitten gets used to playing with a person directly and not with a toy, then they tend to bite/scratch more after they grow up.

if our cat bites we put water on her back (used to use the spray bottle, but then she would sneeze and get sick lol.) try to come up with a good punishment if the cat gets too aggressive with its teeth or claws. although with kittens it's harder to control them. Also try to keep the kids from bothering the cat too much. a friend had a kitten that he bothered way too much/never had fixed and that thing was insane. humped everything in site and was unpredictably violent.

now look at my ***** lol

was thinking about declawing my cat when I first got her... but I decided on trimming her nails.

she doesn't give me that much trouble when it comes time to trimming... just never hit the pink area (nerve) and your good to go.
