Before I would just shove a bunch of sleeping bags in my trunk on all sides. Now I want to actually do something to secure it, but have no idea what to do.

I can't do velcroe because the carpet in the trunks of stis is merely 1 cm thick and is pretty much worthless.

Anyone use wood to drill into or something?

    All ideas/experiences appreciated.

Take the sub out of the car. That should cure the problem. Other wise you could run some l brackets into the trunk pan and bolt your sub to the brackets.

I had some decent luck with one technique before. i put I-bolts into the sub box then i used some nylon cord to tie the sub box into place in the trunk. i think i used an extra bolt hole by the jack spot, and another byt the trunk latch. it worked pretty well. i ran into some minor issues with the edges of theholes cutting the cord, but it took a few months for that too happen.

i am curently thinking about whipping up some metal brackets that i could bolt into the trunk somewhere and could then bolt to the sub box, but i havent had any time to mess with it.

good luck, BTW velco doesnt work, it just rips the carpet up.

Anywhere on the trunk floor that I should worry about drilling into?

    ie gas tank?

Also, will I need any special tool to drill through the metal?

i took the carpet out and used some fiber board (the same stuff the sub box is made out of), cut out the wood to the shape of the carpet, carpet the board or leave it naked, put it in the trunk then mount the sub to that. i had to cut the board in two pieces to get it in and it works great

Uhhh, some people make this way too complicated. The thin board used to cover the spare tire..... just drill an L bracket into that, and connect the other side to ur box..... Yes the board is thin, but all you want to do is stop it from sliding correct? I've done that on 3 of my cars, works like a charm, from what others are saying its almost like you want to bolt your subs to ur car so no one can steal them..... My way is very easy, cost you less than $3, and is easy to remove if you need ur trunk, just need a screw driver.....

The only way I see that not working, is if you do some heavy rallying, but, if you did heavy rallying, you wouldnt have subs, teh weight.

I used a wratcheting strap to hold mine down. Went under the seat and around these 2 little hoop thingies then around the entire sub box. That let me beat around in my car and not have them move an inch.

I use a ratchet strap, too. I'll try to remember to post a pic when I get home. Works great.

The one hook goes to the bracket that holds down the rear seat cushion on the passenger side. The other end is bending that hole in my rear deck, but I don't think that's going to hurt anything. I put a couple of screws into the top edge of the box to keep the strap from popping off. I can remove the whole thing in two minutes.

LOL I used the seat strap things on both sides, and also used the "screw" method to keep the strap in place
