how to remove the starter?

    okay, i might get my ass kick for asking this. how many bolts are bolt on the starter? or better, if any one have a diagram of removing the starter, that will be great. lmk ASAP. thanks

    i think there are 3 bolts. I found it easiest to go from underneath the car on the drivers side.

    2 bolts, one on top of the starter and the other is at the bottom, the bottom one is sometimes a nut that goes on a stud that sticks off the tranny(this depends on what year the tranny is) top bolt is 14mm bottom one is usually 17mm.

    I changed the one on my sti a couple weeks ago, it only takes 5-10 min and I went from the top. 2 bolts

    if your car is a 5spd 90-98 you have a 14mm bolt on top and yes, 17mm nut on the bottem.

    if you car is a '99+ you have 2 14mm bolts, one top one bottem.

    REMEMBER that the top bolt is LONGEST of the two.

    autos run 14mm top and I believe if not 17mm... a 15mm nut bottem
