This has been inspired by the other thread on here, hehehe. So yeah, I don't work in a factory anymore. Cool. But then again, I don't work anywhere now. Not cool. Many of you know that I'm currently studying for an upcoming actuarial exam and would like to get into the insurance industry. I passed the first one last spring, btw. So if anyone has ANY leads on someone who is willing to hire a complete nerd such as myself, feel free to hit me up on here. I'm not limiting myself to just the insurance industry, either. TIA. - Tom
i can hook you up with a referral if you like working for a big arsed company.....i dont but you may.
That's my intention but I'm not sure if I'd want to commute to downtown St. Paul from Minnetonka everyday.
I am pretty sure you can get hired on here dude ... I mean, applying for like 10 jobs is a surefire way to get at least one.
My wife hates to apply for jobs that she feels she is not qualified for, but what could happen? nothing...I say keep applying for any...she actually got the job she didn't expect to get...now she's pulling hair because she doesn't have much experience doing it, but she is now getting the hang of it.
lol, I wish that was the case. It's been almost 4 years since I graduated from college and I've only had crap jobs thus far. Thanks for the kind words, tho, Pete.
Yeah, I guess you're right in that aspect, Ray. It's just that it gets to be soooo frustrating and somewhat demoralizing when you send out resume after resume after resume and never get any feedback at all. It's pretty certain that you'll have a 0% chance of getting a certain job if you don't apply for it, hehehe.
haha i am reminded of Oddtodd's video "sometimes I feel like, when I send out the resume, it goes into like ... a black hole ... " I hate that too. I lucked out. You could try some of those consulting places too - but DO NOT GO THROUGH CDI.
I've been talking with a recruiter for a bit now and also went to what seemed like a pretty nice temp agency yesterday. I'm just impatient, that's all. lol.
And it would be pretty cool to watch my resume go through a black hole and get spaghettified. hehehe.
^stop shaking for knees...is a bad habit...I tell my wife to be positive, if they don't respond to your resume, they aren't doing there job and losing an opportunity to hire a great employee...I believe every Resume should at least have a chance for an interview, or at least by phone. People are totally different in person and over the phone, compared to a peice of paper...I've interview a good amount and the resume is impressive, but the interview was to say the least way off from my expectation...
u get a point for calling me Boss, u've been warned especially last night posting on your acct saying it was me...pzzz what r u thinking
Tom should say: Tom: I'm a terrible Salesman, but I'm honest Customer: ??? *Tom leaves* Customer Runs after tom to buy a car, but Tom refuses and still leaves... lol
I'm going tot start temping again until school starts. If you want advice let me know, I temped for two years a while back, there is a lot of stuff thats good to know.
interested in taking my calc 2 midterm and final for me? jk good luck on the job hunt, it is tough to find something that you enjoy doing.
If you are looking for a great company to work for ou should see if cargill is hiring in anything that will float your boat. I know several people that have worked there and nothing but great things have been said. Just an idea. Or... you could come tune my car everyday so it always runs perfect. I will pay you one chipotle meal a day.
I might be, however they don't have many postings on their website as of now. Thanks for the offer.
lol, I've got bills to pay also. But yeah, I've looked at Cargill before -- they are right by my house actually. However, they also don't have much for openings at the moment.
I always run to the temp agencies when I need a job, and they turn into great experience makers. They show me how it is done at several companies and gets you used to first days because every new location feels like a first day. Plus since everything is done differently, I always learn how some great new trix. I work in IT. Now ive had the same job for 5 years... 5 long years... TY benifits for having me stuck like glue.
They're always looking for interns. You'll have to get a security clearance though, which can take 6 months or more.
I've worked at Lockheed before. I don't remember the security clearance taking that long! But I do remember the sign in the 'smoke hut' outside that read "Remember, someone's listening!" with a picture on it that had a bear? on a cell phone!:ugh: t3hy t4p y0 liN3z by intercepting the signal while you are on the property! Definitely a secured area!! Interesting place to work though...ESD's.:kekekaugh: Someone hook Thom up with a job...you could work with me t0m, but you need to become a union boy!
hahaha...No. I'm a Laborer's Union cat myself! All I need is a sledge hammer and a couple red bulls, bring on the destruction!!:woot: bTw...they don't make a big enough 'blu3 t00lb3lt' for my hammer!
