I have something like that, but the door to the outside from the garage only keeps the beer cold in the winter, and some nights it makes the beers explode.

Exploding beer = no good.

A beer closet like that would be nice especially stocked with a few different varieties. Plus if you have any friends that get two out of hand about something, you can stick them in there to chill out for a while.
