i dont get how the mag times can vary soooooo much, the sti destroyed the evo in every other comparison ive seen (in a straight line)

They tamed the new STI down some. Even the JDM model doesn't has as stiff of springs.
I think the JDM STI Spec C model would be a better comparison to the EVO.

I don't really like our USDM STi/STI's....because it's powerplant isn't really like a true JDM STI.
Our USDM STI will never perform as well as the JDM STI's. 8200rpms FTW!!!

Mitsubishi's AYC is really far better than what Subaru has to offer. The DCCD is nice. Subaru should think of making a system similar to the Skyline's AWD system.

I am going to have to agree with this. Being that I have AYC in my wagon, there is nothing that compares! Well, that is till you crap an ABS sensor, and the whole system goes nuts on you. :eek3: I have so many warning lights on my dash right now, had to pull three fuzes to be able to drive.

I have a copy of that mag too. the article is really sad. the whole first 2 pages are all evo = awesome sti=suck. Although i am kind of skeptical after seeing the BM video cvomparision.

Most video comparisons I've seen make the STi look much faster than the Evo. I don't really like to trust too many of the Road and Track comparisons. Especially since their editor demographic has different tastes than mine.

US Spec STI isn't anything compared to the JDM counterpart. But after seeing the new Evo and new STI in person i would take the STI hands down.

I pretty much never listen to what magazines like Road and Track, Car and Driver, and Motortrend have to say. SportComactCar is somewhat decent to read. All in all, what a car is stock means very little to me. What does a set of springs do to the conservative suspension tuning on the STi?

On another note, how will the Mitsu's DSG box take to heavy modifications? I would be serously skeptical of throwing 500hp at that thing and those clutches holding up to it. Sure its fun, but a stock car gets old real quick.

from what I would want, I would get the sti, "more practical daily driver" had me sold.

    also see:

    Mutsu FTL

also, whoever says the sti is ugly omg look at the evo! better yet, strap a grenade to your face, pull the pin and look at yourself in the mirror after your face blows off........

    fixed... and agreed.

I wonder how much parts and labor is going to cost for the dsg also. Not hating, just seems like one of those little details that inevitably pop up later on. Especially with modified cars.

I would agree with this. The DSG is a great idea but the feel of a manual is just so much better. I believe they do have a manual model. (don't mind the looks of the STI or the EVO, They dont look great tho)

Perhaps a test on gravel would illustrate which is a superior rally car. The evo's don't race WRC anymore so it would be interesting to do a comparo on gravel to see which is superior.

Ya that too. Who knows, maybe a little swaybar love could do wonders to the balance of the car.

I just feel that comparing stock cars if moot. Each manufacturer had different goals in mind when tuning the finer points of the car. Compromises were made and the stock car is what it is. But its also whatever you want to make it...

^+1. It'll be interesting to see which one is more aftermarket friendly. I'll still take the STI.

I've seen reviews go both ways, but I'd take the STi for it's durable six speed and lighter frame

Did anyone else notice the relatively high compression ratio on the evo? I Dont think it's direct injection, so I'm wondering if they'll like the big boost like the old evo's?
