Found this at Morrie's Ford for a stupid price. Needs lots of work, but it would be easy to double my money if I felt like flipping it. Plans are to do the head gasket preemptively, replace every bushing under the car, and do the suspension. It's shot. Also needs some minor bodywork and some trim stuff. Should be a fun car.
My first true tuner car was my 1jz swapped 91' back when I was coming out of high school. Loved that car and engine. Lots of fun.
Stock turbo model or was it swapped? Looks a lot like the one my friend had about 9 years ago. Also hnnnnnnnnggggg
I've had a Supra in some capacity for the last 10 years, and currently own a '91 Turbo/Targa/5-Speed. Have any questions, need any help? Also, paging @toyotanos And search for "Minnesota Supra Owners" on Facebook!
Fun stuff. Despite what you'll hear and read, it's actually quite a stout motor when it's set up properly. The trans is meh imo, but it'll hold a good bit of power. That said, it's a relatively steep climb to get to a good state as far as tuning goes if you're after more of the ponies.
I am finding it very hard to maintain self-control and not dump every spare penny I have into car parts. Must. Adult. Responsibly.
Keep the updates coming. We had an 84 Supra way back in the 80's. Totally different car, but still cool.
Must have a nice apartment complex. Ones I always stayed at before you could turn around someone was there saying you cant do that blahabnalaahaha
Old and new driveshaft This weekend I took advantage of Monday off and got the coilovers installed. It's a bit too low up front, but it's nice to have them in. I'll probably bring it up a half inch. Left to do: Head gasket Head studs Timing belt Water pump Wheel bearings Targa seals Touch up paint
woke the Supra up from hibernation. pulled the 30 year old targa seals out and replaced them all with new OEM seals. also got the oil changed and put fresh gas in it and aired the tires back up to 40 psi. after that it was time to wash the winter dust off and then take it on a shakedown run. weather seals function as intended, and it pulls to allegedly 90 mph smoothly. still need a throw out bearing as the one in it is clattering, and it may need a steering rack before too long. it's nice to have it back up and running.
ordered up a steering rack for it. I also have a set of energy suspension urethane bushings for the entire underside of the car sitting at home. drove it to work today to take advantage of the nice weather. I'm super impressed with the coilovers in it. Sporty but not harsh, great ride. Would absolutely buy for a different car.
