For all the rediculous things we talk about on here, I'm amazed that I cant find a thread for the Soldiers and Contractors who were slain today, or for hopes that the 30+ that were wounded recover. Not trying to make anyone feel guilty, because then we'd have to feel guilty for the 20 Soldiers, 6 Marines, and two Corpsman who died in Afghanistan last month but never made the news. And if we felt bad then, we'd have to feel guilty about the last years worth of slain troops who haven't made even made a second page. I'm glad I got to hear about Michael Jackson for a month straight. Nice they came out with a movie for him too. But for ****'s sake. 43 people were shot today, 12 people died. 12 people that were in a building getting ready to go overseas to put their lives on the line for duties sake. End rant...I guess the only reason I even bring this up on here, is I know how passionate everyone on MNSubaru is about Supporting the Troops. I want to be angry with a group of people, instead of just sitting here reveling in my own blissful hatred for the media. -Jack Adams, Corporal, United States Marine Corps. AKA Pra4sno.
You have a very valid point. The freedom that we enjoy is often taken for granted. I myself never served in the armed forces, but I have the highest level of regard for those who have. My heart goes out to the familys and friends of those who have given their lives to preserve the gift of freedom that us as Americans so often take for granted.
I didn't find out about it until late last night, my own evening was a bit chaotic. I had never seen a transit bus take out 3 cars right in front of me before. The amazing part is that nobody was hurt Semper Fi Jack, you've got a birthday coming up I do have to say that I was a bit surprised to find out that they took the guy alive, the initial reports all said he'd been killed. Just delaying the inevitable with that one. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and the soldiers at Ft Hood, and for the rest of the men and women and uniform around the globe.
Yessir, we're having our Ball next Thursday. Should be a grand time. I'm glad they took him alive. It'll be a long, drawn out process, but I'd imagine this could be the first case in the last 30 years where they assemble a firing squad. For those of you that think it doesn't exist...it most definitely still does. I hope of the seven rifles, one goes off, while the six others have 'stoppages' and are cleared and fired oh...every couple of minutes.
I wonder if they'd hang him instead. Frankly, at this point all I hope is that however they do it that it really, really hurts. I'm not sure if you'd posted about it before, but congrats on the promotion! When are you coming home? I'll turn you loose on the new rifle
for sure i think the real men of this country deserve a lot more remembrance than they get. im no republican and i dont agree with most of the crap our gov does but i will always support our troops. its not their fault, just like Vietnam when the troops coming back got treated like crap,it wasnt their fault it was the decision makers. thats the part stupid blind hippies (hippicrits) dont understand.
I had a discussion at chow with my buddies. We have concluded, that tying his arms to the back of an abrams, so that his body hangs directly in front of the turbine vent would be a sufficient way to go out. The tank would be started from a completely cold stage, and allowed to warm up over the period of a few hours at Idle. My uncle (Minnesota Cop) texted me to say he also has an idea. The text reads exactly: Stimulus package: $5 per ticket. Lottery for firing squad for shooter. Brian - I'll be home around the 20th of December, for quite a few days. I have to burn off the entirety of my leave account before I go overseas for 3 years.
Did you get Embassy Duty? I'd be down for 20 or so tickets. I'm sure they'd be hot sellers. The Abrams idea is a good one as well. Probably also do that with a Hornet or Harrier just as well. Just strap him to the jet blast deflectors at one of the bases.
yep truly a sad event... inaction to act on obvious issues leads to this.... sucks for the family and children left to deal with this..
One of the slain soldiers is from here. RIP to all of them. http://kaaltv.com/article/stories/S1237847.shtml?cat=10728
I did brian, I will be home on leave around the 20th of this december. I cant share details on when my class starts. Looking forward to it with a lot of excitement. I've got a buddy going through the program right now. He said it can be summed up in one word: Brutal. On the condition I graduate the school, I'll be reporting into my first Embassy sometime in February. Should be good times!
Jack, congrats on the Embassy Duty posting. I have no doubt that you'll do great there. Happy Birthday! When you get home, we'll make sure to get you out for a night of dinner and bullets.
I know we talk about this every time your on leave, but it never ceases to amaze me that to find this information out you need to dig for it(for the most part.) Like you said, we have heard enough about M. J. and the balloon boy, real heroes seem to be swept under the rug, its just pathetic. What bugs me most though is that when troops die media makes a larger note on how the president reacted, who the hell cares how Obama reacts, troops died! You are one of my best friends. Being that Johny P, Scott, and about 20 other people I know are enlisted I feel very tied to this issue. Although it means nothing to the families and friends that lost loved ones, I hope they have not given up on America, and I hope America has not given up on itself. We are terrible at reporting this news and putting emphasis where it should be, I just feel so honored to have friends like you putting yourself through hell to protect people like me, You are the hero I don't deserve but I do need. I think the same is true with our country. Thank you and godspeed. P.S. on a totally different note call me about that text.....oh and I have a car for you for your leave....MY EVO:biggrin:
