i went back to hongkong for summer. In here, all are JDM car. i worked at my uncle's dealership today, and someone traded in this B4 twin turbo B4 (legacy). i will take more pic if i see them on the street. Saw a bugeye STi, but missd the shot....sad!! Sorry for the big pic, but enjoy. Hopefully i can get some JDM parts for cheap before i come back!! hehhehe i love those rims
Nice picture Hey Chokin are you from Hong Kong too? I am going back this September and for sure I will take lots of picture too.
Yes I am from HK too!! But not here for school, we (the whole family) move here twenty some odds year ago.
nice...this is my 2nd year in MN ..lol ...still have like 2x more years to caught up...but i love MN!
You should. Find out how to bring a car her. I am sure if your uncle has a dealership he knows how to get cars overseas. we could sell them here
JDM Subarus are not legal for import or use on public roads. Customs will likely force them to be cut in half, or you must declare them a track use only car and will not be able to register them for public transportation use.
Yes there is, but the list is short. Skyline R32s can be brought in legally still, but no R33s or R34s. Shame. Stuart.
yes there is, so long as its over 15 years old and you live in canada you can inport it there, then reimport it into the usa. Its a PITA and requires someone who is a canadian to be in on it. lots of r32s made it in the last few years like this.
If you purchased a Skyline from Motorex, it is still legal to drive it here. If you purchase a Skyline from overseas and ship it here, it will be cut in half, or it will be registerd as offroad use only not for public use. There is a list of import cars that the USDOT had approved for use on public roads available on their website. There are no imported Subarus that are eligible for public use, and the Skylines that are in the states and legalized properly are the only ones that will ever be allowed here. Aside from the 2008 GTR, but that is because Nissan is specificly making it for import to the US.
Or you can do what esperunit said, but I think that is still grey market, I don't know that it is entirely legal.
And of course that site is down right now... http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ I'm fairly certain the R32 is still legal in its own right, and predates the Motorex fiasco. Stuart.
Once a car is 20 years old, you don't have to meet the safety standards. The safety standards are what they enforce on the skylines, and what not. The cars have no airbags, bumper beams, or side door beams.
Good news. So I should by a '99 R34 right now, put it into storage in Japan, then have it shipped here in 2019. Just in time for my 4yr old to want to borrow the keys. I think I suddenly see a flaw in my plan. Stuart.
wow this is sad!! i personally love GTR34 , but cant drive it till 2020? lol o well, i thought there is a GTR in town, isnt it a GTR33? Guys cars here are SO CHEAP!!! i was looking on a magazine, a JDM 98 impreza STi is selling for $68,000 HKD = $9000 USD...i was like what a good deal. im pretty sure you guys will love it here hahha!!!
can someone please fix the title of this thread? i think it should say "own" not "owe" and it's drivin me nuts
