Dang it's been a long time. Am I crazy looking for an older wrx to wrench on? The ones I see out there now are all rust buckets. I wish I would have kept my 02...
You missed the sweet spot when decent examples were selling for cheap. Now that the "19-year-old-upgrading-from-Honda-to-Subaru-oops-why-did-my-car-blow-up" phase is over, you're left with blown ****boxes and collector pieces. Best hope is a barn find that will need reconditioning, but won't be totally rotten.
Paging @pinjasaur . Might have one that he wants to get rid of still? If you want to go the basically really nice, already mostly "done", definitely drivable route. Otherwise if you want the rusty sh!t box, needs almost everything route, I'm your guy! Haha.
I think there are still reasonable cars to be had. Probably not locally though. Even Doug Demuro (YouTube/Cars&Bids) was saying he can’t believe bugeyes are still under $10k while Honda/Acura/Toyota with less power are going for more. I say shop for a decent one and live that bugeye life!
There was one for sale near me (Tennessee) earlier this summer. Blue wagon, modded. I should have checked it out, but it was sold quick. I'll try to do better about keeping an eye out for southern cars.
Under 100k with minimal rust. But yeah, that is what I paid for my 2015 BRZ with about 10k less miles! hahahaha
There is a yellow one on Facebook. $10k with salvage title. Looks absolutely beautiful. I have asked for under-body pictures a few times with no response, so that’s not a good sign.
That seems like a lot to me for a car that's not completely original anymore (aftermarket hot air intake and who knows how sh!tty the coilovers are). Crazy.
