My New Years resolution is to get a new job. Anyone in need of a corporate manager? I feel like Career Builder and Monster just get nowhere. Anyone have any advice on how to start networking? I think that's the only way I can get things moving.
Good advice. I haven't burned any that I can think of. I think I need to build more which is my problem is that I don't have a large network out side my old company.
Find a contract agency and become a consultant Project Manager. You can PM for any industry with those qualifications.
Well there has to be some people who have left Wells Fargo and moved onto other companies -- see if you can track them down and just get in touch.
Look for a headhunter! When I moved to NV I had a pro finding jobs for me. Very ease, costs you nothing, and best of all, you get to be in the drivers seat because you'll have 5-10 options at any given time. Just my .02
He is 110% correct. We headhunters, job whores, whatever you want to call us try to give candidates multiple options. Go to www.mrinetwork.com for starters. You can locate a recruiter within your industry or skillset. contact them for further advise. Make sure you have a professional resume for the recruiter and do not be afraid to email the resume AND follow-up with an introduction call.
I know Ameriprise is hiring. HAR HAR HAR ... considering they just laid off about 600 people from downtown and are moving all their crap online-only, maybe it wouldn't be the best place to work. I know I don't wanna go back there. They'll start you way lower than what you should be making with your experience, anyway. I just wanted to bitch about my old company a bit .. don't mind me
What do you like more sales or (sales) management? I've worked for very big companies (GE, Bank of America) and very small ones. The big company background never hurts as resume fodder. As said ^above^ get in touch with a head hunter/flesh trader like Robert Half. My neighbor runs their Bloomington office if you're looking for a warm referral.
I got my new job through networking...PM me Dave, I actually went through the whole process with a career management, paid big $$$ and took a pay cut...But I now actually like what I do...Plus $$$ isn't always the answer. I'm looking long term... $$$ will eventually come with time spent with a company.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try a head hunter as I'm not sure if I want to shell out the $$ for a career manager. I've looked into a couple and the least amount was about $3K up to $9K just for their services. I'll check out MRINetwork and Robert Half as well. Thanks again!
^I agree to a certain extent...some good and some bad. But the good part...they brought out th best in me and talked to a lot of people because of them... Headhunters don't teach you some of the basics...Just send your resume and hope for an interview, get the job and they get paid. I actually went through a course with a counselor and talked about what I can expect, what should I do, How to react, etc. I got the system (book) of all my notes and courses I took...If you want to borrow it, there is a lot of good info in it...LMK dave I negoiated my fees that they were charging me...+ I have another deduct lol...
