I've been busy today. Last night after work I cracked down and hit the plotter full force. Started installing the stuff today during my lunch time. Here's a little preview.
A little while ago, it's been sitting in my garage...figured while I was sticking smilies on my car I could stick that on there too. Those are Manochromatic's old wheels. Bought them for snow tires, painted them 'w00t blue' a couple weeks ago. I'm working on it You are next in queue
If I stuck a mentally challenged Pac-Man sticker on my car, could I park in handicapped parking spaces? Would other drivers be more likely to yield the right of way?
The graphics are fun, but putting them on is definately NOT fun. This was a learning experience. And I took away a valuable lesson... Reflective vinyl SUCKS to work with in anything other than stripes and letters. And even with stripes, I'd imagine it would suck. The stuff is brittle. Very brittle. Even warm, it still doesn't like going into tight places...like around door edges and into body lines. I still love it, but it isn't perfect. Up close it shows its durability to contouring. It probably would have been better had it been 90 degrees outside and humid. You'd seriously need to apply this stuff in an oven to get it to come out perfectly. But I'm still happy with it, it is definately as obnoxious as I wanted it to be and then some.
That is soo you my friend! Thanks for the feedback, I have made a note to make sure I have a pro do mine. LOL
Not saying that I'm not capable, just saying that they are frustrating to put on in the sizes I'm using. Most vinyl will conform to edges well. This stuff is stiff, thick and brittle and doesn't flex well around tight edges. I'm sure Dave is more capable than me as he has more experience, but I'm sure he'd agree that this stuff isnt' as easy to work with as standard, solid color vinyl. I know he'll do a great job on your car though, I'm excited to see what you eventually come up with.
LMAO, that looks fantastic! Are the wheels a gloss blue? Kinda hard to tell in the pic, but they have an anodized/candy-top look to them. You going to wrap the graphics up the window and/or rear quarter?
Sorry I should of edited that part out, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure thats not you, your capabilities exceed most others. I was referring to the graphics. I can understand how difficult it must be to work with in the MN winter.
OMG, those are reflective too? That rocks!! The first time I saw the picture I thought to myself, "Geez, nice Photoshopping to get it to follow the car contours, but he really should've darkened it up to make it look real." Bonk. =D
You weren't the only one. Ryan on here, aka "crack" on the IRC said the same thing when I showed him.
