I will post more later but the ice race is the 15th-17th this year so people can get their days off. I will be taking deposits Oct 1st. Last year it filled up in less than a week for the 1st race. For those not familiar with our ice races here is some basic info. : It is held here at my parents resort: www.deerlodgeresort.com located in Orr, MN (northeastern part of the state). We have 5 log cabins that we usually fill up and rent for this event. We usually get close to 30 Subarus. There is room for 40 people to sleep on beds plus 5 couch spaces and we can fit a few on the floors. This event is not sanctioned by any clubs, it is just something fun that me & my wife like to do to get everyone together. We usually do timed laps on Saturday morning/afternoon just for bragging rights. We always have a big bonfire and we host a fish fry along with my famous polish sausage one night. The course varies year to year depending on the ice conditions and how much snow we have. Some years we have multiple courses of different lengths and play areas, sometimes we are lucky to get one good track--you just never know. You can go out any time of the day or night to make laps and play around or ride around with others. Some people bring their snowmobiles up too. That's the basics of it. possibly, there almost wasn't a 1st one. The cabins are getting winterized right after deer season so I will have to get everything hooked up for the 1st one, don't know if I want to do that twice.
yeah, the last thing i remember you saying, at the last race, was that there wasn't going to be a race next year. I'm in!!!! best times EVER!!!!!!!!!
^^^my parents are not going to run the resort this winter, so if I want a race I have to do all the winterizing after everyone leaves. I still have to get the plow truck fixed after I broke it plowing during the 2nd race. I will take deposits october 1st, 1st to pay gets 1st pick if cabin and bed.
I will be attending this one. Yes, I haven't been to one before for different money reasons, but I'll be there
subscribed to keep tabs, we almost missed the whole deal last year and ended up not being able to come at all in the end anyway. Hopefully this will be our first one this year. Glad to see there is one!!
Rich I'm close enough to you that if it mAkes it possible to haves 2nd I would gladly help with the cabins. Me and Kelsey are in for sure and I'm bringing the sled this time!
Where are the cabins? If you want help winterizing a group of us could probably get it done quicker then just haveing you do it alone. If I dont want to race, but just want to come up, stay in a cabin and go out on my own is that ok? All depending on where this is located of course.
I'd like to do some ice racing this winter for sure. I'm a little confused on what's actually happening though. Are you making your own course on a lake or something or what? A buddy of mine has a farm with a couple decent sized lakes on their property and he's only an hour away. We were going to try and make our own course up there this winter. I'd love to come out and race/see how you set stuff up.
if you search last years ice race you can get most of the info, the resort is in Orr,Mn on Pelican Lake. I am making my own course on a lake. Not everyone races, you can just come and watch. Thanks for the offers to winterize, I may take some people up on that.
sounds like fun, I would like to come and watch.... but there is no way that i will know if I can make it until december at the earliest. if i can go I am more than happy to help open and close the cabins. i have done it to mine every year since i have been little.
It all depends on how cold it is and how much it snows. if there is alot of ice before it snows I will just try plowing

Might make a day trip up one of the days since it is only about 3 hrs or so from me. Hard for me to get the time off sometimes.
What city is your cabin in? I'd like to swing out and see how you set everything up, so I can have a better shot at makin a track with my buddy on his lake.
