I'd love to come for a day. If I'm around, I'll see what I can do. but I won't be spending the night....I'm still in the hole from last time.
whats this maybe stuff? you had a blast last time, and you know you are going again. ya! we just need to get ryan to paint his wheels gold.
I'm in! I'd love to have a skid pad and/or oval track set up for this one. Having short tracks like that are a blast and a great way to practice.
^ FYI: hunter green L parts are becoming harder and harder to find. i have already replaced ALOT of mine (hood, fender, both doors, trunk lid) a derby might not be the best idea. lol
^^^^? Put me down as a maybe also Rich! I would love to come back up. Just need a few days to figure everything out!
Yeah, it's been very cold up there up until this last weekend. It was still -20 on the 18th... It looks like even with this warmup it'll still stay below 32 up there. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KORB.html
Would be nice to get a little bit of pwder on the ground this time! Who's in for a group buy on a snow machine if there is no snow that weekend!?
We just need to invite someone with some drywall-screw tires and lots of hp. Chewed-up ice is actually pretty good to drive on...
theres around 32 inches of ice, even if it gets 45 every day it wont melt until late April- early May
Ok, I think we're safe as far as ice this time.... We can do a group photo and even invite a few semis out if we want...
Ice makes me the slowerz...but I will volunteer to tear the track up with some studded tires if someone is bringing some!! Listen to me...sounds like I'm already going, and I don't even know if I can yet!
They have been hauling gravel across the lake to one of the islands, im not sure what a tandem axel dump truck with 10yards of gravel weighs but im sure its alot if you guys want to help we can go to the gravel pit with my truck and shovel some gravel in and spread it around on the course
I think it'll be ok to leave the main course as ice, that way we don't have to separate between hp classes when we do the timed runs. If we setup up some other kinds of tracks, we can play around with the surface. I'd actually like to have a skid pad that gets flooded so it's ice-rink smooth. That would be fun. If we can make a short 2 or 3 turn track, we can add some traction to that maybe.
rich if you want some help to get some gravel let me know. i might be able to head up earlier. we should do a actuall skid pad sakting rink, thats big, wide open, and glass smooth. i will see about getting something with studs up there. but beware with studs come the possibility of thrown studs (read screws) laying on the track.
No snow here ... it's so warm that I am afraid it's going to have bad effects on the lakes around here .. so hopefully people be careful! I was thinking of trying to make it to the meet, but we'll see - don't put me down yet heheh Thin ice on medicine lake near me ... and people are still driving on it. Not cool... Though watching an ice house fall into the water is pretty funny ...
You don't need studded tires to get around with awd!! Rich was e-braking around the cones on the lake with the front wheel drive Neon with street tires on it! And some damn fine driving I might add...hahaha! < <These Blizzaks worked well for me! < \/\/\/Neon on ice...ftw!!
Yep, you can have a lot of fun with regular all-season tires. Winter tires have an advantage, and studs are just cheating... Let's get a few more people signed up so we can be sure this is going to happen.
It looks like over the next couple days there'll be enough snow up there so we can have a plowed course with snowbanks...
