they are driving pickups on the lake today, so small cars should not be a problem

 

I was just watching the news and they were pulling small pickups out of some lake up by Brainerd :ugh:

 

our ice is real sketchy since we had alot of rain not too long ago, plus alot of the lakes around here have alot of soft spots in them from streams, rivers etc.

 

^the river, on Pelican Lake, is on the South/East side.

Here is the news report on the guy that put his truck in a lake http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=144690 . Granted this occurred 200 miles South of Orr, MN and I think the ice was 5" where this happened.

I'll be driving back down through Orr tomorrow, I'll see if I can stop and take some pics of the lake condition. I walked out a bit on Kabetogema today though, it's a mix of really hard snow and ice, shouldn't be a problem driving anywhere. The lake looked like it used to be slushy, but it's all ice now. It probably got up to 30 here today, but the sun doesnt have the power to melt anything and the temp drops real fast when the sun goes down.

Me and my bro should get up there around noon Saturday. We'll be sitting in the sun on the beach down in Texas a week up till very late Friday It should be interesting going from snow to sand back to snow again, lol.

Well, here's what Kabetogema looked like yesterday, it's about 45 minutes north of Orr. Pelican Lake looked the same when I drove past today, crunchy snow with a few frozen slush spots.
