Since I lack pretty much any kind of artistic eye, I wanted some other peoples opinions on what would look good for wheel color. I've hated the white wheels my SVX came with ever since I got her and now I've got a month off between semesters and can do something about it. My initial thoughts were gunmetal, stock silver, or black but as I said, I'm terrible at figuring out things that match (EDIT: The goal is to not look flashy) I don't plan on replacing the wheels since I'm about done with putting money into this car, and starting to save up for the next project. Here are some pictures to help get an idea. Thanks, Matthew
def black or gunmetal if you're not trying to look flashy. i really like the way the gunmetal looks on russ's and bill's cars which are a similar dark red shade, so i might lean towards gunmetal over black.
Gun metal at the darkest. I personally don't like black. They show dirt/salt more than a lighter color. I'd go with stock silver or gun metal.
Color matching that red is too 90's. green is wack. orange on that would look two tone ugly. blue ain't happenin. yellow......icka. black? ^ read readymix above. I say, gunmetal metallic. Now, should you go mettallic or flat? Or toss a clear on it. Those SVX's are pretty good lookin, and they belong to that era IMO. So please, nothing too flashy outside of OEM for the beast. I really really like that white tho. :yumyum: How them calipers doin?
I painted them last weekend, but they've been curing in the garage until today. The color was Duplicolor Graphite wheel paint with their wheel clear coat. Also, please ignore the ugly balancing weights. The paint job is not that great because of some shoddy work in the previous paint job. Grinding through proved impractical and they really would need to be sand blasted. I'm not willing to put that kind of money into the car at this point, and the cars paint job is sub-par to begin with so I just scuffed and painted. Two coats with self etching primer, two coats of build up primer, two coats of color and two coats of clear. The end result is ok, but far from great. I may end up sourcing some stockers to put on when I sell the car. Anyway, here's the end result. Sorry about the crappy cellphone pic but it gives an idea.
i like it. I have seen both of your cars around plymouth a lot, and the svx has always been shiny adn clean. Nice color combo
