I wonder what's the story. How does one get both rear quarters and doors damaged? The only thing that comes to mind - being sandwiched by a convoy or smth :p

I have actually been thinking about it. I can offer $1,500 and get the car. and then take my time and work on it. I can sand it little by little and then maybe take it somewhere to get it painted and do the prep-work myself.

Keep in mind that its probably not only bodywork. Some bent suspension/hub/diff parts in the rear are almost guaranteed.

I didn't understand why both rear panels are damaged. I haven't actually met him and just talked on the phone. yeah there's certainly other stuff that needs to be done. it might take too long to do everything. but 1,500 is pretty cheap for an RS.

auto body shops do not care about prep work. they will redo it right no matter who did the work. its their paintjob- their ass if its not good.
sanding is not going to help anywhere, I would just stay away.

I e-mailed the guy and gave him a list of reasons why he's crazy for asking that much. And asked him how much he realistically wants. If he comes down low enough I think I might buy it and slowly work on it. I thought it might be a fun project and a chance for me to learn on a car that even if I screw up it's no big deal. I am in no hurry whatsoever.
