So, I was driving down 694 and saw a fairly heavily modded WRX with stock rims up front and after market in the rear.

    WTF.

This trend is/was stupid from the get go in the honda world. I understand that people were conveniently mimicking FWD dragsters (cheap bastards dont want to buy 4 rims) by putting steelies up front and aftermarket rims in the back. Someone thought that was cool.

But why the hell would anyone want to do this on a WRX?

This guy obviously had some money put into this thing. CF hood, body kit, exhaust, etc. Just spend the extra $300-400 and put all 4 rotas on the goddamned thing. It doesn't even look cool with the flat silver stockers in front anyway.

If the owner of the car I'm talking about posts on here, this is nothing personal. Just do yourself a favor and either put all 4 aftermarket wheels on, or put all 4 stock wheels on and thank me for saving you however much it costs to replace your center diff.

I'm sorry, I just moved on from the heavily riced out racerboi world of honda and it kind of pisses me off to see the same useless shenannigans going on in the land of subaru.

What's some of the more ignorant stuff you guys have seen?

by heavily modded, I mean spent enough money on body work and exhaust to be able to afford two more wheels and tires and skip the body work and exhaust.

but yes, tis true. It's probably stock and AT BEST has a cat-back.

The answer to your question is stop dropping your clutch like you got no sense and your tranny will live on another day.

I have to say guys before u go "ranting" CRAZY about this guy who has stockers in the front only....I need u to verifey that he DOES still have them on till this day...or that he does not have some kind of wheels problem, where his other two stocker are in bad condition, or whatever...because u know that there could be a couple of SERIOUS reasons he has is like that...maybe he can't affrod replaceing them right now...or WHATEVER F***ING REASON HE MIGHT HAVE...Please don't expect that everyone is made of MONEY like yourselfs...I personally had two tires SLASHED..and NO money to replace them I had to use my friend's WRX stockers with tires that were basically BOLD for a week before I pulled the money out of my A** to get some replacement's....Thank You...

then if you cant afford to run even some cheap used tires then you cant afford to run a car... simple... there is NO excuse for that crap... someone slashed your tires.. that sucks MOH... but thats also life...

but I say if the person is cheap and then drives his car like he was then he is a moron... I cant afford new tires but then how in the hell would he afford a NEW transmission, center differential and anything else he screws up int he process.....

I say cry on someone elses shoulder....

    I dont mean you Moh....

Thank you. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

If I couldn't afford a wrx and modding it, I'd still be driving the crx in the garage. Hell, I could buy a new set of rotas every other month for the crx if it wasn't for the car payments on the wrx.

I already addressed this anyway. The guy had a CF hood and a bunch of other expensive crap on his car. If he can afford those things and can't afford to fix a wheel situation, then his financial priorities are seriously out of whack. Period.

Geeze, a little pissed about someone else's car? How about who gives a damn and move on? It's not you car, if he f*cks it up, big deal, you still have yours right? Comming from the Honduh game, I saw so much stupid sh*t, but whatever, I built mine the way I wanted and was satisfied...now build yours the way you want it...as easy at that...Subaru's aren't some sort of God's Chariot bullsh*t, you're gonna have ricers, live with it...

I agree with that. But just because people can be idiots sometimes doesn't mean I can't go hey look, that guys being a freaking idiot. That's life too.

Also, with ricers follows people who will stop at nothing to get the latest and greatest bling (ie they will jack your $h!t). So you may not mind the popularity, but there are some consequences to it.

Indeed...the reason why I picked up a daily Subie driver...my Honduh was taken from me a couple weeks ago (R.I.P). But with popularity comes responsibility of your own belongings too...lock up your **** folks, thieves might be moving on to the new popular cars...I see WRX's like I see Grand Am's and Grand Prix's nowadays...could be the next fad for thieves...anyways, yeah it's fine to point out something stupid, but damn to make such a rant on something is a waste of time IMHO. It's almost like pure hatred more like it after reading through it.

I am sorry Nate and bummpy...but I still stand by my opionion un-til u can tell me u are a 100% sure he still has them on...yes u guys say if he can't affrod all that Sh*t he has then he should afford some wheels...but u have to think how long has he had the stockers on...maybe he was on his way to fix them or maybe that's the only way he could get to work...not everyone has a couple of cars and a meineke ;)....but I will restate that illegal2.2 also seen the car, i am guessing at different time..which MIGHT mean he is doing it purposlly (having the stockers in the front)....and if that's the case...my opioion will be wat a RETARTED MOTHER F***ER...So INCONCULSION yes I do agree that the guy is an idiot if he is doing it on purpose...I REST MY CASE...

I get what you're trying to say. But all I'm saying is that if you have a problem with your after market wheels/tires, you either put all 4 stock ones on, or put 1 stock one on, or one temp one on until you get to the garage for repair. This guy was clearly on his way somewhere and he had his boys in the back. Not on his way to get the thing repaired from some mythical misshap that only happened to 2 tires.

Its really not that far a stretch to figure he's rollin like that on purpose. And I find it hard to believe that he only owns 2 out of 4 stock wheels.

Who knows, this guy probably smashed into a curb, ****ed up two of his rims, and was driving somewhere to order a new set.

Don't bash on someone like that if you don't know what happened, or he is driving his car in that condition.
So many possibilites, so many un-answered questions.... Don't just assume things

Once again I've already addressed these things. I think given the situation it was safe to assume that this person was going to be rolling like that for a fairly extended period of time (considering he was rollin' with his boys). And again, if he curbed 2 rims and had stock ones as extras, someone with good sense would put all 4 on. So at best, this person doesn't have good sense about the intricacies of AWD, and at worst this person has horrible taste and is being a cheap bastard about buying rims. I think both scenarios involve some misinformation on his part (also known as ignorance) and I think it's my duty as a fellow rexer to properly inform him (and others about considering such faux pas).

Yeah, but the vast majority of stunna ricebois wouldn't be caught dead in a wagon (thank god, lol) because they wouldn't get enough street cred from their 17 year old homeboys.

Actually, I've seen a lot of the Honda guys put steelies on in the front only during the winter and run two snow tires, with their summer tires and wheels on the back.

Of course that's tupid to do too, but I suspect some poeple think it's better to drive a car that's liable to swap ends at the drop of a hat than drive a car that can't move 6" on snow because their "super ultra high performance" tires turn into hockey pucks below 32F.

Now, that'd be a really, really stupid thing to do on an AWD car.
