The sad thing is, with a couple hundred dollars in metal, a welder, some used snowmobile tracks, a set of steelies and a few dozen industrial castors you can make the same thing.
Yup, it really does look like steelies with some fab work, does it add over 10,000 to the price of the car? I think not.
Was interesting to see. I remember some famous rally driver with a car setup like that. I'm surprised it's only 17k usually those track setups are way expensive.

Those don't look like steelies at all. I see some probably water jetted parts: Mattracks go for 25-70k new. Obviously these aren't nearly as heavy-duty, but being as it's sold by the company that makes them. This is absolutely the cheapest way to get a WRX on tracks, without making them yourself. And I've seen a few DIY track projects started, never seen one finished.
