So after about 6 months of looking for a Subie that caught my eye I decided to bite on a Focus ST. 2013 st1 (base interior) Still a huge subie fanboy but it wasn't in the cards. As for mods, I plan doing standard catback, intake, and bigger intercooler because the stock one is poopoo. So far this thing is such a fun backroad missile.
I call her "fiddyshadesofwhite". It's still a Subaru! I'll bring dis to the next meat so that i fit in mo bettah!
I've seen pics of it, it's not pretty. The guy that bought it from me trashed the transmission somehow, removed the sparco seats, swapped out the vented hood, and got some bull**** wheels for it. Then tried selling it here for more than he paid. It is dead to me. Long live the Z
I watched a couple videos of it on YouTube the other day. Specifically rolling into LaX area with the gears whining. I do miss it sometimes. However, the Z is more what I was looking for. A good, fun cruiser, sounds good, looks magnificent all the time, turns heads. It is way more chill than the WRX was.
How noticeable is the torque steer and what's the city fuel economy like? Still kinda want one of these for a day/dog hauler.
It also has classic lines as opposed to the "well... she looks good in certain lighting" thing sporty Subarus got going on.
I drive A LOT of city driving and punch it often when I can and I'm averaging 25 right now but like I said it's about 90% city because I live in the town I work. As for torque steer, its most noticeable in 2nd with the foot the floor around 4k. It isn't anything to freak about as long as you have two hands on the wheel. I'm looking to get a mountune rear motor mount to help with it though.
I'll definitely look into getting it off work. Might have to bring my crowd killing mustang friend with though...
He keeps telling himself he will get a gt350 in the next year or so. We can call him a crowd killer when/if that happens.
Oh don't worry we mock the **** out of him for it. He tested the track pack seats at C&C Saturday to see if that's what he would get. He is a walking meme.
I hope you enjoy your ST. I had one for 2 years and it was a lot of fun. It is a pretty good bang for buck car.
I'm loving it. Main test will be bringing me to the ski hill in the winter. Hoping blizzaks are enough to keep it going straight in some nasty conditions
I used blizzak in 225/50/17 size and had no issues. The part that always made me nervous is the car not having any tow hooks if I were to end up in a ditch though.
My old man had one and ran blizzacks just fine. No issues. Even tracked it, on summer tires of course.
