I'm looking at buying a brand new 2011 WRX. Anyone heard anything good/bad about them? Specs (other than the stock 265 whp)? How it stacks up to other cars (such as the brand new EVO)? Does anyone have one and love the hell out of it (like every other subi on here)? Is the STI worth the extra $8k? Thanks everyone!
The new 2011 WRX is the best bang for the buck. You're not going to find a comparable X for the same price new. I also happen to think it's the best looking Subaru since the GC8, but that's just my opinion. The WRX gets a quicker 0-60 time than the STi and the only visual major difference between the two is the STi badge and wing, they both have the fender flares and wide suspension geometry. They both have the 2.5L turbo, however the STi is built better and has a bigger turbo (hence the faster 0-60 time on the WRX). I own a pretty heavy modded evo ix and love the hel out of it, but if I were in the market I would sell it for the new STi in a heart beat. Hope this helps.
I would think the gearing has more to do with the 0-60 times. I went from a 2.5L wrx to an sti and it was worth it for what I wanted, but as a daily driver I wouldn't have even considered the STI. Actually now that we have an lgt, I would have skipped both wrx and sti if I was looking for a straight daily driver. Good luck on your purchase and make sure you test drive any cars you might be interested. Numbers are just numbers... you never really know if it's right for you until you actually drive it!
Actually, you guys helped a lot. I will probably end up putting a complete turbo upgrade on it pretty much the day after i get it anyways. I'm looking at spending about $5k to $8k on mods after i get it in my garage.
