I live in salt lake right now and will be moving back in about a month. Ive recently come to realize that raves may be one of the funniest things ever. I dont roll or take E or anything like that but i got drunk and went to one with a few friends that do and i couldnt believe the event. I was just a whole bunch of people completly out of their minds playing with glow sticks and dancing to techno. I love all forms of techno but they take loving it to a whole new level. Theres a rave here about every weekend so im gonna have to go to another one. Does anyone here have any experience with raving or going to raves?
Not any good ones! :eek3: I loves me some techno too (but I am more into Industrial/noise) .. but wow. Raves in Providence RI were scaaaaaaaaaaaarrryyyyyy been to none here. hmm .. this reminds me of a song by Leatherstrip ...
I thought so too but raving is the only thing to do out here if your under 21 i guess. I mean its not the only thing cuz i dont do it but i know alot of kids that do.
Your options are going to foundation (a club downtown that caters to electronic music), they have techno and house on friday, drum&bass on wednesday, and I'm not sure what else other days. Otherwise you'll be stuck going to cheesy clubs like myth (big suburb club) and random downtown clubs (karma, envy, spin, too many to name). If you're into the eurotrashshinnyshirtfratboyaxebodyspray massive, you'll find them there. There are still sporatic, more intimate parties that happen on occasion. They usually end up happening at random warehouse spaces randomly around the city. Those are probably the most similar thing you'll find to a rave. But those are usually a little bit harder to track down. wall of tvs is for the most part right. but I'm also assuming he's of the generation that has kind of grown out of it and moved on. there are still plenty of places and events to get loose at, just not in the "ravy" sort of way they used to go down. I actually prefer it that way though. I just went to this thing last weekend. It was smaller, but there's still stuff going on.
QUOTE=wall of tvs;291178]umm.....welcome to 10 years ago. Raves are dead.[/QUOTE] lol ^^^ I use to Rave a lot also, but I kinda grew out of it. The last one I went to was Soundburnt a long time ago. I wouldn't mind raving again but there getting kind weak around here now. www.mnvibe.com is where you might want to check out some events.

My friend just got out of treatment (for E) and he was always saying everyone he talked to said there was never a scene.
Dude, the US rave scene started in the midwest for the most part, Mpls included. Map point events back in the day ftw.
First rave I went to was Polis ... don't remember what year that was...98 or 99 I think. Yeah those days are long gone..fun fun times though.
I was at that one, in that warehouse in EP back off of valley view? I was there for about and hour and the popo showed up and kicked everyone out. Then there was a huge brawl outside...
ahahaha I try to keep that as far from here as humanly possible raves are dead. the casket is riveted shut, encased in a concrete sarcophagus and buried 3 miles below the earth's surface. "raves'" people are throwing today are incredibly weak and mainly attended by a bunch of people who were in 2nd grade when there was a rave scene and are emulating what they think it should be like from watching "go" and "groove." If you actually are one of the statistically insignificant percentage who actually loves the music, there are still lots of options. There is sort of an ex raver racing contingent. There are a few one time DJ's, producers and VJ's who autocross. I actually got my first autocross spot from buying it from dj spree.
agreed. raves nowadays are not what they used to be. Back in the day it was all about the music not drugs and all that crap.
I remember going to Liquid Motion in Minneapolis right by elite along time ago. It got raided like 20 mins right after I got in. Such a small room and it was packed. lol
The goodness still happens, you just have to know where to look. Those are all within the last year. And I wouldn't really peg them as raves. But the music was certainly the JAM! ps you're all jadded
ha! that was my first mpls rave. I think I got there prob 10min before you because I only got to hang for 30min. Well that plus the 40min the cops made you sit on the floor waiting. Good times... oh wait.
I went to some outdoor rave in Los Angeles. Which did eventually get raided. But it was supposed to be an all night deal. I spent the first hour or so trying to set up a tent I had rented and got almost finished and realized it was missing the top bar that held the two sides up. So it ended up being a freakin' tarp on the ground. Which bummed out the whole evening. After about 3 hours, the 'tarp' became the place where all the idiots full of drugs went to lay down. There were two in particular that had me fired up pretty good, one was dressed like a butterfly or something, the other was just covered in those happy beads or whatever. The butterfly had passed out on the tarp while I was trying to pack up the 'tarp' to leave. i kept trying to wake him up, but the girl with the beads started yelliing at me to leave him alone. This was my 'tarp' so I wasn't having any of it. I put my hand gentlly on her head and pushed her off the tarp. Then using my boot, I made the butterfly move. She made a real fuss as I knelt down to steal some of the beads off his arm before packing up the rest of the 'tarp' and going home. I still have the beads packed in a box somewhere, everytime i see those things I smile to myself on the thought of kicking a guy dressed like a butterfly with a head full of drugs off my tarp....good times.
mile high, drop bass ... thats was about the just of the "i think i'll drop a crazy insane amount of money for a good show" people. raves seem to = clubs now. would be nice to get certain old times back... but the police will never let that happen untill it dies and revives in 10 years.
yes, Drop Bass Network ftw. also Massive Magazine. <--- longtime friend of Dan Doormouse 'cause I'm cool like that.
Been to a few many many years ago. It was alright, I was never sober so I always liked the music. But I liked the girls alot more I remember about 10 years ago I was working at a warehouse on the 3rd shift on Cretin-Vandalia/University area. There was a rave in the warehouse right next to us. Car's everywhere and so many nice looking 'tang walking up to the warehouse. Shortly after the cops came... Limp:laugh: A "friend" on another forum is pretty good. Not sure what genre cause I never got caught up in that crap. But I like it. Good background music at work/home. Check it out if you want http://www.rezdj.com/music/miami07.mp3
lol, I was leaving as the cops were coming in. I pulled out and literally 10 cop buses were going down the road on the other side. I went to go drop off something for Madkid and he was playing later, so he was trying to get me to stay. Some kind of sixth sense looking around the place just made me want out of there ASAP. It just looked like it was going to get busted. It was in the taylor sound building, where I later had a studio. The guy who owns the place (perry) never shut up about how much he hated the liquid adrenaline guys after that. almost shut down his business, plus a week before that bust some messed up kid crushed some other kid between two cars right outside there. No wonder it was under scrutiny, they were running an illegal bar/club without taking a single precaution.
Was that one of those in the basement of the xcel energy center? That was kind of the end of the era... man I do miss Woody's Wall of Bassâ„¢
hehehe.....the wall of tvs was a poke at Woody's wall of bass from way back when. He always got a kick out of it, lol.
I remember mental was there, the basement of the roy wilkins, and one of the soundburnts imo. I didn't save flyers and i have no way of checking though. After one party there I got locked in a downtown St Paul parking garage and rammed my way out using an SUV. Man that was stupid. Stupid and effective.
I think that a friend of mine knows you through some VJ stuff. You know matt murphy? (murph, vj'd for Sound in Motion)
yup, he's been to a few fargo parties that I played at. I think I've even seen him (memory is foggy, lol) at some of the hardcore parties in Milwaukee. Man, it's been years since I've talked to that guy.
murph was doing the stuff at quest last time I saw him... what happend to all those guys after quest destroyed itself? random club shows? it would be nice to see a nice large show again now that i'm on the other side of the fence.
lol... in parts in my basement. got tired of the drama and un-needed attention, put the money into something more apreciated... the 06 in my driveway.
