Moved here from Scottsdale not too long ago and picked up a low mile 05 Sti off of craigslist as a winter beater a few months back. After owning Zo6's, single turbo supras, Audis, and an FI Viper, I didn't expect to fall in love with this car the way I have.

Since buying the car, I have had an endless stream of parts at my door every week and have been modifying something on an almost daily basis.

I look forward to becoming more involved in the subaru community as it seems to be a good group of enthusiasts. If you see a debadged black STI on the road, give me a wave or say hi at the pump. I'm generally pretty friendly unless I've just witnessed a Minnesotan trying to merge, navigate a four way stop or try to figure out which is the passing lane and which is the driving lane.....

Best impulse buy you could do, welcome! That turbo comes in handy when passing all the idiots out there... which is pretty much everyone who's not on this forum.

Nice to know my frustrations are shared ;)

I don't have many good pictures of the car yet, but here's what I have on my ipad

Nice carbon fiber usage. Winters here are pretty rough on the cf hoods. Might want to think about getting an extra coat of clear on there at some point. Clean ride man!

Sliding around in the snow is kinda fun when you're not trying to get somewhere quickly. Other than that, the cold is pretty awful.
I move a lot and am hoping not to spend too many winters here.

The MR2 is from my ricer days, so don't judge me. I also had a couple DSM's, Fox body mustangs and a turbo miata but it doesn't look like I kept any pictures from those years.

At this point - ride :)

My previous car was a 2008 C63 AMG, which burned through tires like crazy. I don't miss the tire bill, but it was a damn fun car to drive.

Nice. I love the AMG cars (but not the repair costs). I considered an E55 AMG a few times but could never quite pull the trigger.

No judgement at all, I would take an MR2 in a heartbeat! Overall I can't argue with any of the cars you have owned and will freely admit I am jealous.
What mods are on the Viper? Is that the only one you still have left besides the new STI?

Yep, currently just the STI and Viper. I sold the Audi and Opel within the last few months.

The Viper has a fair number of mods, including a Novi 2000, brembo BBK and full Corsa exhaust. It has a very mild tune and makes around 700 on 93

I wish my car would make 700 with a mild tune...I would stick to suspension mods with the STI if I were you. Getting reliable power out of subies is spendyyyy especially compared to a viper.

I'm well beyond suspension already. I just finished up the supporting mods and will be ordering my Tomei M8265 shortly.

I intended to keep the car stock..... But I've intended to keep every car stock and it's yet to happen

Oh wow, you still on stock block? If so I wouldn't expect the motor to last long.
I'm probably around 350whp and wouldn't really be too surprised if I blew a piston at any time. The tune is very good and I don't beat it into the ground but stock pistons are weak on both sti and wrx.
At least you don't have to worry about the tranny!

I don't have expectations of perfect reliability. If it blows, it blows and I'll have a good excuse for a full build. What turbo are you running? 350 awhp must feel pretty nice

It's never been on a dyno so it def could be lower but I have a Kinugawa TD06-SL2 20G with the billet wheel upgrade. I'm only at like 19psi on 93 octane though, with E85 people seem to get around 400whp with similar turbos and I should have the injectors to get there.
I think I will go E85 in the spring and see how long the motor lasts. I am in the process of buying a 2012 G37S at the moment so who needs reliability, right?! ;)

Oh and the extra power over stock is a whole lot of fun, I still smile every time I drive my car.
