OMFG.. On the way to Midway tonight, some broad in a Lancer cut me off and was literally about 4" off my bumper and I was blaring the horn... Her moronic @$$ kept movin over!!! I was soooo incredibly pissed I dropped gears and FLEW past her. I NEED ONE OF THESE HORNS!! I saw the vid of the Ferry horn on some guy's car and thought about it.. So I looked up train horns and they're like $250 with an air pump so I said screw it. But now I want one REALLY bad.

I ordered the 85315's. They're a little quieter than the 85115's (113db vs. 118db at 6'). I don't see a reason for overkill. They should still be significantly louder than stock anyway.

    good choice.
    the hellas are freaking loud.

and easy as sin to install.

you will need, male female spade connectors, heatshrink, heatgun, dilectric grease, strippers, a GOOD pair of wire cutters, socket set, zip ties, and an inline fuse.

Is the fuse necessary? Also, they come with a relay, my understanding is the relay isn't needed but it makes it louder yet.

Fuses are necessary for ANY electrical item that is connected directly to the battery. Otherwise you're taking a big risk. I don't know about you, but I don't like fires anywhere on my car.

Should I assume there is a fuse with the stock horns then?
I've got some directions already. I'll figure it out this next weekend when I put them in. I'm not too worried about it.

yes the stock horn system is fused.
the relay with the hellas taked an aditional 12v in. this is the one that should be both switched and fused.

    you can skip the relay.

ive tried it both ways. they definitly sound louder with the supplied relay.

I did a bad thing......I completely copied you on this and ordered a set today.

I have been wanting to replace my pansy horn for a long time.

I it makes it by this weekend we could install them at my place. If mine don't show you can use my garage anyway. I'm probably going to clear my headlights this weekend.

I'm also trying to get Brad to help me clear my headlights this weekend since he has done it.

My horns are supposed to ship today and they said 3-4 days. The way UPS usually treats me they will show on Monday but I didn't want to pay extra. At $8.00 for ground they are already charging about $4.50 more than it is costing them to ship. :(

Haaaahahaha, who's gonna volunteer their garage for THAT project? ;)

I upgraded mine to a pair of chrome stockish-type ones from JC Whitney, but I must've overadjusted one of them, because last time I honked it was a wussy little nasal toot.

Mine were supposed to ship on Tuesday. This means it's 50/50....they will either be here by the weekend or they won't.

If they don't show I would still offer the use of my unheated but fully insulated garage and my extensive automotive-electrical skills.....oh wait....I don't have any! I am willing to experiment on your car though so we get it right when it somes to doing mine!

    Thanks!

Sounds a little nasally? Is nasally a word?

Hopefully its just the recording.....even though it sounds more manly than the pansy oem horn.

To me it sounds like the loud a$$ fire alarm buzzers that they set off to evacuate the building. That's the set I ordered, it's supposed to come in any day, maybe next week I'll swing by firestone if they are put in and demonstrate it.

LOL! Since we're on topic of horns, www.streetfire.net has a newly uploaded video that is about a car with a train horn driving around the city scaring the **** out of bystanders. It's a stupid thing to be doing, but it makes 100% of the victims jump (and some even running to safely). (streetfire isn't work-safe so I cannot provide a link)

I saw that one, the funniest scene is when one guy jumps over a wall!

Speaking of streetfire, there was a good one where a guy was driving around with a turkey whistle attached to the blow-off valve and filming people's reactions.

I found a pic of the dual supertones mounted behind the grill of an STi - looks kinda good, IMO

I've seen that video too! Definately a ROFL!

:?: I haven't decided yet if I'm going to leave the horns red or paint the grills black. Any thoughts? :?:

I'm liking the idea of "stealth mode"

Paint 'em flat black! Don't give the victims any warning!

It's a slightly higher pitch. Definately louder, but from in the car its not too bad. I gave Steve a blast as I left his place so he might have a better idea what they sound like head on.
