Pump gas on a 16g? I think you're in the ball park for what to expect at 250whp. What dyno was this on?

Dang it, thought I covered all my specs. 91pump for right now? For a “reliable” 300+

Found a pretty legit E85 setup for cheap

The numbers it puts out with stock injectors is great. The car is very responsive and im happy With the tune. The powerband is to short and some added fuel would help extend the boost curve? Or maybe its a crap turbo! Either way, whats a good injector size for 300Hp+ on a ej20?

You're likely not going to hit 300hp+ on an EJ20 with a 16G on pump gas. 250-270 is pretty much the range for that turbo.

Lots of people hit 300+ on a blouch 16g or a equivalent snail.

So 650-1000cc+ and a fuel pump, should get close to 300hp

I think a 16g on the 2.ol with e85 is right size for everyday driving. Any bigger and you are getting into lagsedanland and replacing the trans. Might have to anyway.

Two reasons you shouldn't buy this knockoff flex sensor kit...

    1) It isn't accurate. It's been tested and proven that it doesn't provide an accurate e-content reading compared to Cobb kit. This is extremely important when the ECU is making changes based on ethanol content on the fly, it has to be accurate.

    2) It won't work with your car, assuming you have a bugeye. Flex fuel (with Cobb Accessport) is only supported on 32bit ECUs (06-14 WRX and 04+ STi). 02-05 WRX have 16 bit ECUs. There are other flex fuel options for 16bit ECUs, like Carberry for example, but would require an open source tune.

If you're going to upgrade injectors, I'd highly recommend going with Injector Dynamics 1050x injectors. Stay away from Deatschwerks or "modded stock" injectors.

Upgrade to 1050x injectors, a higher flowing fuel pump (Walbro 255lph will suffice), and a pro tune for an e85 map and I think you'll be around your target of 300whp

Also, I have seen the 02-04 stock airbox become a restriction at around 250HP on the dyno at RS. So, tack on a long-tube CAI as well for good measure.

    Also, a proper tune.

I have modded stock injectors in my bugeye...:(
They seem to work fine for me but I'm sure they'll eventually be swapped out for something bigger (they flow at about 820cc). @Dwight Ritenour I do have a set of STI pinks (565cc) if you want to try those. They aren't as big as what other ones you're looking at but they'd be a lot cheaper.

Thanks for all the input guys!!!

Really dont wanna run E85. A tank of gas doesn’t last long as is with that car. The car is the beater, mostly built with spare parts. So Lets call it a budget built.

The E85 20g build is coming and I’ll need advice for injectors with that car very soon.

That info about ecu’s being different (16-32) has me a little worried about switching my cars to e85 considering they are both bugeyes.

I do have a set of pinks but they made less power on my last build only 246h/232t

    Soooo

Doesn't everybody always say the stock box is good for 400?

Maybe that's what's holding my car back... /joke

    400 is a streeeeetch.

I've only ever read that its good for up to 300. Mainly on Nabisco..

I made a custom intake using the snorkel and bottom of the air box.

    The turbo inlet is stock.

The intake pipe, maf mount and pod filter make lots of turbo sounds!!

If you have an E85 20g build coming, just do ID1050s and be done with it.

It's not so much related to them having uneven flow across all 4 injectors (which is still very likely with modded injectors) as it is the pattern in which they flow. They tend to flow more like a cow pissing on a flat rock as opposed to a fine combustible mist.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. I sent mine out to Witch Hunter so at least I know they flow the same, but I'm aware of the pattern being less than ideal for full clean combustion because of the diffuser plates being removed. I did it that way since I had the injectors already and just paid for the modification/testing and didn't have the cash to shell out on new ones. As I mentioned before, I'll likely end up getting different ones at some point but they're working well for the time being.

I have a set of brand new ID 1050x that I bought when I was going to go E85... with the commute to work being only 3 miles I changed my mind after another members problems with moisture. Anyways New, bought from JM pm me if you want to discuss price.

People say a lot of things.

I was standing next to Steve-O's car at RS Motors when the box became the bottle neck. I want to say they removed the air-filter altogether to get through the tuning session. Granted, this was maybe 12-13 years ago, so my memory of the exact situation could be fuzzy. But I vividly recall hearing the words "Well, we figured out the exact horsepower level where the stock airbox becomes a bottle neck. 250whp."

Makes me wonder how my aftermarket intake would play out on my car now.. I never liked how unnecessarily noisy it was so I swapped the stock box back on it.

I can't really speak to anything outside the realm of the EJ20 as far as intake bottlenecking goes. You are probably fine.

I'm pretty sure @DoughtCom went with the Carberry flex fuel kit and tune from a specialist in WI(?) and has been happy with the setup. It is correct that the 16-bit ECU cannot use the Cobb FF kit.

And ID1050x for sure if you can swing it.
