Here's some pics of how I installed a Snow MAF Alcohol injection kit with their Safe Injection Module. It's not a very thorough write up. The instructions that come with are sufficient.

I started by mounting the pump. I decided to mount it under the battery tray. Remove plastic rivets and peel back plastic from under the wheel well. Drill holes from the top of the engine bay. I forgot to snap a picture with pump bolted in, but you get the idea.

From the top. One of my holes was off and I had to drill a fifth.

I mounted the hose in the washer tank, below where the hole is for the windshield spray. I figured if I'm out of washer fluid, then I know that I'm on "reserve" for injection.

Safe Injection Module mounted next to battery. More on this below.

    Mounted nozzle to IC.

Tapped MAF signal to control injection, pink wire with blue stripe.

Relay that interrupts the BCS whenever the Safe Injection Module does not sense flow of alcohol to the engine. Bought this from Checker Auto.

I mounted the control module in the glove box. I'm running 75% ethanol. 50% was causing a bog. My nozzle is slightly too big, though the next size down would be too small. The power is great. I don't have before and after numbers however. With the Safe Injection Module, I feel pretty comfortable about not hurting the engine in case of failure.

what management you running with this? Custom map? Does this mean you can run a 94octane map with just 91 "gas?"

I believe he's on OpenECU still, and yes, custom map

and the alcohol act as an octane booster, so i don't know the calculations but it'll be as if he's running a higher octane gas

How much methanol will this actually use while driving? I have no clue as to this stuff, so some insight/elaboration would be nice.

The meth spray is usually keyed to start at some set MAF voltage, and I believe Andrew's was set fairly high, so I'm sure he doesn't use much while daily driving.

i've only had the kit installed for a few weeks and don't have a good sense of consumption yet, though rough estimate is about a 1/2 gallon per tank. methanol is $2.30 / gallon. after i dilute it, it's about $1.80 gallon.

there's a ton of info about this on nasioc. from what i've found, injection is a good way to make power with little or no drawbacks, except for the potential of engine damage under load if the injection failed. basically, the alcohol works like an octane boost and the water cools down the intake air, both decreasing knock and allowing for more aggresive timing, boost, etc.

Got an update? How's it running? I've been thinking of getting an SMC kit for over a year now. I'd imagine they are comparable.

runs great. i don't have before and after numbers, but it feels like the biggest jump in power mod i've ever done. cause i'm running 75% methanol to water, my windshield fluid kicks a$#. i can spray it on a frozen windsheild before my car even get warm and it starts to melt instantly.

is it safe to spray the meth on your paint?

I have had mine spray on the paint before and it never hurt anything. But im sure it took the wax off in that spot

most windshield fluid made is from methanol anways, so i don't think there's a paint issue.

i set mine at 75% because i was getting a bog that was likely related to my nozzle being too big. from what i understand, the higher meth ratio is not a problem.

i'd be very concerned about messing up paint (and for that matter even removing wax) on one of my cars i'm planning to run meth on

not like i use my washer spray much with it either though

Their discussing not using a separate tank for the meth and just using the washer fluid tank, therefore running the risk of getting over spray on their paint above the windshield.

yeah, i'm planning on trying it on both my wrx and my c43. The c43 doesn't have room under the hood (sc takes up some space) or in the trunk (stereo) to run an extra tank- in fact, i'm already running a reduced size windshield washer tank.
