OK Tentative Date for Install & Grill event at my store for all MNSUBARU members and small car enthusiasts... MEINEKE CAR CARE CENTER - next to Cub Foods Shakopee http://www.meineke.net/index.asp?shop=1802 I am thinking SATURDAY 23rd JULY... 5:30pm onwards at my store... Should have a grill and tools... It will be a bring your own meat / everyone bring a dish etc... Cub Foods is right next door.. heres what I need... a show of Definites... FIRSTLY: a) Who is coming b) what ya gonna bring to share... ie chips / drinks SECONDLY: who has something they would like installed.. ie: maybe an exhaust or brakes... The plan is... the store closes at 4pm... so anytime from 5pm onwards.. we will block off the driveway to members and all hang here... if it is like 4 of us we will still do it... but I need to know so I can make sure we are planned... It will be a supply your own parts gig... if you need stuff that we have here there may be a small charge to cover the cost of parts... also if youa re oding brakes and need the rotors machined you may want to consider the statement below... (he knows legally what you can machine etc.. I can work the machine but the numbers screw me up!!) ie: coolant , freon, brakes.... unless you supply your own... also my TECH will be there for the night... he will have a tip jar on his toolbox so if ya feel generous he is willing to help do a lot of the work...(he needs a new tranny in his car) ha ha.. let me know for sure who would make it... Nathan
Wow! This sounds wonderful! Do you have lifts at Meineke? A lot of members would love to join and have parts installed in their vehicles. How extensive would you recommend the installs to be? I have a turbo to install, but it would likely take several hours. And I'm sure Readymix (planned to help with my install) would prefer to have extra experienced hands working with him other than just himself.
I'll be there. I am going to bring couple bags of hotdogs, how does that sound and also a 12pack of Coke... I will be changing my brake pads. I have everything I need, except the knowledge to do it... Mohammad M
I'll bring hot dog buns if you DO bring the hot dogs, Mohammad. I might just bring some hotdogs too. hummmm..... I'll bring 24pack of Pepsi, and IF no one comes, it's all mines! I think I attend 99% of the meets.
I dont mind staying till midnight if people want to, but they would have to skip out on FIRESTONE or get there LATE... ooooh ha ha ha... especially if you are trying to install a turbo?!?! that would be fun... As far as the Brake pads are concerned --- EASY... my tech will hang out for a while too if there is anything we may need help on... brakes are pretty straight forward... My Tech is willing to help with any install... but tips would be nice... he will have a tip jar NOTE: unless we plan on staying ALL night we need to make sure the installs arent the most in-depth unless someone has done them before... the turbo may push it but hey if there are people who want to work on that while others work on something else??? the up-pipe takes about an hour on a lift... just a heads up!! I am going to try and borrow a video projector and run some videos I have of performance cars from Australia on one of the big walls... so it should be a fun evening... TheGC8: Brake Pads install, struts, strut bars, unbolt heat sheild : Hot Dogs and 12 pack of coke FuJi K: bringing his buns.. ha ha and hot dog buns and 24pk of pepsi and some more hot dogs... Kicking81: Turbo Install maybe... depends on who helps.. he he Mushashi : ???? ordering parts.. snacks?? Chux : has to break something first - brats, chips and some Dew maybe Tbone : ???? lots on wish list... snacks??? MNAutomatic : up-pipe / suspension - some snacks?? 2B confirmed... LVT: Burgers & Buns TeamMNS : Exhaust Install - Brakes... snacks?????????????? Grimm : F&R Sway Bar install, TBE Install maybe, tamalis??? maybe Shane86 : Hanging Out - may help with Alignments.. chips?!?! Dynapar : Alignment?? Hanging Out Boddah27 : Hanging Out - Shopping at Cub. DHawk : Up-pipe install... 2.5RSMN : removing parts. If all that have replied so far turn up then we may have to stop the installs now... *NOTE* We may have to limit the installs to suspension / brakes/ exhaust type stuff... we can always do another install day if this is a success!!
Count me in My diagnostics and installs: CAI, emission CEL inspection, front rotors, Cat sensors replace po4420, engine bay spray, struts shocks, springs, instrument light fixfure and more
well, I should be in the area, and if so, I'M IN FO SHO!!! if...hehe more info as the day becomes nearer, I should know at least a week in advance for sure. I can bring some brats and chips, maybe some dew I break and fix things so frequently on my car, I have no idea what I'll need, but I'm sure those lifts would come in handy! hmmmmm...my mom's leggy will be in need of some work about then......more info to come on that too.
Nathan, your garage is top-notch! No oil stains to be found either. I'm in, and I'll bring something edible for the crew to digest. I just don't know what yet.

I will be there and bringing some food/drinks as well as a couple of things to install (up pipe and suspension) depending on how the next two weeks of purchases go. Could also have a lightweight pulley to put in if I can do my homework to find the right one or to see if I need one. I'm just gonna say that I will show up with a few things to install hopefully but I will let you know when the date gets closer as I gotta do some more research yet.
I'll be there... I need to get my exhaust installed and need new brakes. Nathan... could I get the parts from you? I will bring some chips/dip, and hots dogs and buns. This meet is going to be so much fun.
I will be there. I have front and rear sway bars to install. I may have a TBE to bring too....if I sell the durango. Food... I will talk with Steff about making some tamalies or something. Thanks Nathan!
lets spread the word through your buddies... be nice to have a good event... I am looking forward to properly meeting some more of you seeing as I dont get to firestone.. have been once..
Is there away we can get some team decals for the meet for the members who doesn't have them yet? Like me
russ(wrx1) has them. I believe they are still $5 for a pair. On that note, i wouldnt mind getting some decals of the new logo cut.
Hey Nathen....I wanted to add a couple of things to be installed, I don't have to do it all but we will try as far as possiable. 1. Change ac compresser. 2. Change Struts. 3. Install Struts bars. 4. Unbolt heat shield. that's it for now. more to come  . Mohd
WE'll I see no reason why I can't make it out, so count me in as far as mods go, as of right now I don't have any to do, that may change, but probably not by then. I'll figure out what I'm bringing for food later, but I'll bring something to pass for sure. I'll mention it to my buddy, I'm pretty sure he'll make an apperance at least.
Hey GC... the A/C compressor may be last on list cause when we get into them they usually bring a lot of issues with.. unless it is re-install the stuff that was working before you rebuilt your car?!?! Plus you need freon and that is like almost $20 a pnd and holds at least 2pds... just a note.. but we should get your suspension and brakes done... Please Note - I realise that I am risking a lot by opening my store after hours to people I dont know... but I am willing to take a risk and TRUST fellow subaru owners... I would appreciate that all who attend be attentive of things not walking out of the store... which I trust wont happen... It was brought to my attention through a PM that these things have happened previously, and that is why I am posting this... Looking forward to a fun evening...
I can't wait for this meet. Its going to be so much fun getting some parts install and getting to meet some of you guys. Nathan.... do you think I could get some parts for my brakes from you? With maybe even a disconnect on the parts....
Disconnect??? Discount maybe... What sort of Pads (I assume) are you after... ceramic?? I dont get a hol dof the fancy aftermarket stuff any easier that others.. I go with whatever local stores supply.. they can sometimes be cheaper.... let me know any details I may need... I have cross drilled rotors front and rear for 2.5 rs... I believe... the rears fit a WRX but not the fronts... emial me if you want with any details
Cool, Thanks for the hint nathen. Ok well do last or maby later, I can live without ac : 8) ...I might acutally do the brake pads before becasue mine are really bad, so I might change them this week end, so the shocks are probebly on top of the list for now.... Mohammad
Oops... yes I ment discount. Well I'm just looking for stock brakes for now. Don't race enought to spend the money. I know I need new brake pads. But I don't know about the rotors.... that is something I would need you to take a look at.
I would like to emphasize this statement again. I do not want MNSubaru labeled as a bunch of thieves. Anyone found stealing or touching anything in the store/garage without permission from the owner will be asked to leave immediately. I do not remember any past experiences where MNSubaru members committed such acts but please look out for each other. C'mon, guys. This will be a fun, hands-on learning experience for many people in the club. Even more, it is an even greater opportunity for the members to find out who knows what they're doing or not.
I'll probably come and hang out, maybe bring some chips or something. Got an alignment rack in there? i need some more camber... anyone wanna give me theirs?
Yes we do... 11 mths old... but depending on how everything else goes... maybe my tech could help with it?? spiff for him if he does.. he he
Eh. probably don't even need the rack now that i think of it. just throw her up on a lift, loosen a couple of bolts and give'er a good kick. the more the better!
I'd probably be up for an alignment too, especially if I don't have to do it myself (though I'd like to learn!)
hey i got a 2.5. so how much for the rotors? and i think my valve seal is leaking oil. think we can do something about that too?
$$ rotors.. will have a look at what they cost me... will confirm... unless you get me some 03 WRX ones (cross drilled min & slotted preferred or even the diamond slotted) then I would swap ya.. the rear will fit my car but I want the whole set to match.. fronts are too small and apparantly are for the 2.5RS... (they sell for over $125 a pc so make me an offer and we can talk from there.. I need to get rid of them) Valve seal... if someone knows how to fix it I am sure they would.. but we are sticking to simple things as to allow many installs... as possible.. As far as a grill... My buddy is custom making me one for my store.. should be like 3ft by 4ft or something... big grill.. he he he Told him I need it before that weekend..
If you buddy doesn't get the grill done before hand or whatever, give me a shout I'm not too far away from the shop, I could bring mine.
i will try my hardest to make it there, this sounds liek it will be a blast. there is nothing like working on subies. i wont have anything to install(unless someting breaks, like chux said), but i can help others
I plan on going... first meet for me . Hopefully by then I'll have the exhaust/suspension parts I'd like to install. I'm buying readymix's UTEC this weekend, and some help with that would be great too. As far as the food... I'll just see what we're missing and grab it at cub if that's OK.
correction i am up for an alighment, if it wouldnt be too much of a pain. i have been meaning to get one for bout a year lol.
Sounds good.. will see about the alignment, as I said... I should have a tech hanging around for a while.. if he is up for it then you may want to spif him... it takes about 45-1hr min... just a thought
if he shows me how to use your rack, i can probably operate it for the rest of the night. give everyone else a chance to line their stuff up. alignment stuff is pretty easy once you know how to use the electronics.
alignment are pretty simple....adjusting and all is easy..its just the equipment that takes time....doesnt' take more than a few mins to adjust alignment on one wheel. well atleast when i worked on them before.
yep.. The Hunter system is pretty easy... just scary that the heads are soooo expensive... if they are dropped there goes about $1000 a pc.... Most the sytems are follow the screen... but this isnt the TOP of the line so it isnt really step by step... sometimes even my tech scratches his head working out the correct adjustments needed to get the screen green and he has been doing it for almost 10 yrs... So we will see how the night rolls on... anyone got a projector or one they could borrow for the night??? My Church just bought a new one but I doubt if they will let me borrow it... I am one of the leaders / staff there but still.. it is a new toy for them and they may not let me use it... and the last one I borrowed is now installed in a guys house so I cant get it?!?!?
my cousins have a projector i can maybe borrow.....but i have no idea on how to set it up or use it....bleh i'll just bring them along with us too then....btw what will the projector be used for?
