Does anyone carry different sizes of silicone hoses locally? I'm also looking to see if anyone knows which K&N cone kit is the one that fits in the fender wall of a GC and if that might be available locally. I've got some time in a heated shop with a lift to do my winter oil change and thinking I'd like to change out the breather system and do the intake since I had to rearrange things after blowing my BOV off. I've also got to replace the EGT sender while I'm under there. And yet again I'd like to attempt to put those gauges in now that I think I've finally figured out how to mount them in the OEM housing. I just need to know which wires to tap into near the firewall to get power/ground. Or should I run a new fuse to those through the engine bay?
Just tap the gauges into your stock stereo harness (you might not have a stereo but I bet the harness is still back behind the dash somewhere). That should give you a 12V, lighting, and ground.
i have found many sizes of silicone hose, up to 4 inches, i think. semi truck supply places are always cheaper than a race shop =]
Thanks for the tip but do you know the names of such places here in the Cities that have all different pieces of hose? I'll also need a variety of quality hose clamps.
Napa = T-bolt clamps ! bet they have hoses as well. NAPA in St. louis Park is open till 12 on Friday I believe. This is the warehouse.

They got BIG turbos Shops that work on dump trucks, semi's, and other commercial grade trucks.
DSM guys have started bolting up Holeset HX35's and HX40's. They're from Cummins engines and make 550WHP at 20psi. I want to see someone bolt one up to a scoobie! Not that this has anything to do with the topic, but since truck parts came up thought I'd mention it for someone that needs a project.
DIESEL COMPONENTS In burnsville rocks. Extremely helpful, warehouse full of turbos and piping, it is where I sourced my goods for my old turbo accord.
I know a place, I think it's called PYRTEK on Cretin/Vandalia and University. Big Blue and Yellow sign. I don't know what they have though.
Pretty much anything at NAPA I can get at near cost but I don't think they have silcone hose sections. I may have to check out the truck places first, otherwise I'll just order some and do it next weekend. Todd had recommended replacing my intake with silicone hose since it's a lot easier to move around for making a custom intake, otherwise I'd have to have someone make a pipe to go from the fender wall to the turbo but I could probably do that with hose since the stuff is pretty rigid. At the very least I'm using the hose sections to couple together all the rest of the plumbing since the rubber ones aren't holding up that well. So does anyone know which basic K&N cone filter kit fits between the fender wall on a GC8? Oh, and I need one of those cutouts that help when the intake chokes on water. What are those things called?
also heavy duty equipment uses massive exhaust, so you could custom make some sewerpipe sized exhaust
I already have about as good an exhaust as I'll ever need on that car. That's at least one thing I don't have to change. Although better exhaust headers before the turbo would be nice. According to AEMs website you shouldn't use their bypass with forced induction cars. Any others that do work with turbos?
You don't need a bypass valve, if you run a k&n filter. The oil on the filter does not like water. Russ
Yeah I've heard that, but at what point do the oil dissipate enough to make that cotton element take on water? You just clean and oil the filter a little more often then? Actually other than that little part on the air dam there's not much that can get into the fender wall right there is there. I guess if the intake is taking on water there the engine bay is already soaked [xx(]
Sorry to bring back a thread from the way past, but I found a WRX owner with an HX35 bolted up! He hasn't dynoed yet .
Ha, yeah that's that Jared Nelson guy from NASIOC...his threads are wild. He's done some crazy things with that car. That turbo is bigger than a GT40.

This company called Bullseye Power (www.bullseyepower.com) makes HX35's,HX35/40 HYBRIDs, and HX40's as BOLT ON turbos for DSMs. http://www.bullseye-power.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=54 Only $899 for external gate and $1050 for a 38mm internal. This is for a DSM with an HX-35.
My first thought when I saw the pic of his turbo was "how the hell is he even gonna spool that thing??"....LOL

Guess you weren't on the board when this pic was up, or the other one of just the WRX.. Anyways, the DSM is the track car, and I don't street race so.. Surprisingly, you don't even need nitrous to spool it. The inducer and exducer on the HX-35 are the equivilant to a T3 stage 3 wheel and the bullseye housing is .48 A/R. From what I've heard they get full boost 3200-4200 rpm on a 2.0l with the HX-35. It's extremely surprising how well these diesel turbos are workin on our cars. If anyone wants more info on it, there's a 23 page thread on http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145691
